University of South Africa seeks individuals who are fully committed and goal-oriented. Here, there is no room for distractions when it comes to submitting assignments. Failure to submit all the required assignments will result in module failure. Consequently, UNISA emphasizes the development of independence and enhances time management skills in its students. What I like about the University of South Africa is its affordability, offering various methods to settle tuition fees. Being a distance-learning university, it grants students the flexibility to balance other commitments alongside their studies. Additionally, it facilitates student connectivity by providing WhatsApp and/or Telegram group chats for those enrolled in the same modules, enabling collaborative work and discussion of shared challenges. Despite the remote setup, UNISA dedicates workshops to enhancing study skills and places communication with students as a top priority. One area of concern regarding the University of South Africa is the allegations surrounding its integrity, credibility, and legitimacy. These doubts cast a shadow over the institution’s reputation and raise questions regarding how employers may perceive the qualifications earned from UNISA.
I would not recommend UNISA for first-year students who have never attended a university before. In my opinion, being a university student is not only about obtaining a qualification but also about developing essential social skills. However, I would recommend this university for individuals who are working or have other commitments. UNISA provides the opportunity to complete all modules simultaneously or at a pace that suits your schedule.
