University of Cape Town - UCT (reviews)

Generally, my experience and observations as a student of the University of Cape Town have been nothing short of exceptional. The university’s commitment to academic excellence, stunning campus, robust student support, and vibrant student life make it a truly remarkable institution. UCT is not only a place of learning but also a community that nurtures and empowers students to reach their full potential.

It is an extremely beautiful University with diverse cultures, races and backgrounds. I have gained a lot of knowledge from being at the university, a lot of connections with people from parts of the world I never thought I would meet. I have loved that I was able to get my qualification while exploring my youth. I do however feel and think that they could be ways in which the university could be made more accessible to those who cannot afford.

It’s very theory focused and the course loads are heavy, but it’s a very enriching experience with lecturers who are passionate about the field and are supportive of your post grad goals. I’d recommend going to UCT if you’re looking at universities in South Africa – especially if you’re looking for a very diverse student body

The university is a vibrant environment with a blend of cultures and languages from around the world. The lecturers are world-renowned and give their all in ensuring that the lectures are understandable and engaging. I would definitely recommend a prospective student to enjoy the UCT experience

I really struggles to feel like a part of the community. It was quite insulated, if you weren’t from Cape Town or knew people prior to being at the university, making connections and friends became somthing quite hard. The academics are great, but there isnt always support from the department.

I enjoyed my 5 years at UCT between 1995 and 2000, graduating with a BA Honours in English Literature and Sociology. What a beautiful campus and a good experience it was. Looking back, I could have done more research on my subject choices and also participated more on campus initiatives. Having 2 jobs whilst studying added to my responsibilities. I find my studies very useful to my life as I can apply it to many of the different fields that I have subsequently been employed in.

You can find people of every race and culture at UCT. This is especially beneficial for students from towns and rural areas. This diversity promotes self-development, foreign language study, courage, and a strong sense of moral principles. There is always academic support available, and students are given the assistance they need to succeed academically. Health care facilities are conveniently located on campus and are all easily accessible at UCT.

UCT invest in their student learning and support. They provide in person lectures as well as record the lecture for offline learning and student consolidation.

They provide us with slot for consultations with course convenor, tutors and lectures.

They further provide tutorials weekly for further student learning.

They make sure they try to get as many students to understand the content taught by providing different mediums to learn
