Globalisation strengthens the connection between companies from all over the world. It is time people understand the importance of international business.
International business degrees are shaped to give students practical knowledge about different business management practices from all over the world. In addition, candidates are prepared for business careers abroad or in organisations that are engaged in business on a global scale.
Moreover, international business is vital in order to understand different cultures and mindsets and ultimately become a global citizen.
A degree in International Business prepares you for a job in a culturally diverse business environment, which means that any graduate can benefit from opportunities in any country.
The advantage of an International Business course is that you are highly employable for most industries since the majority of skills acquired are transferable.
Candidates studying international business will also gain information and insight about the difficulties of starting and growing businesses from different countries, something which is of utmost importance for anyone who wants to make their business thrive.
International Business is usually a three-year commitment, depending on each university. Lately, there are institutions which offer the possibility of having a ‘sandwich course’, which basically enables the candidates to work abroad for one year in the industry, as part of their studies.
The purpose of the ‘sandwich course’ is to encourage students to step outside their comfort zone and work in a different culture and environment. In this way, they will understand other mentalities, as well as gain relevant working experience in the field.
Unisa is easier on the pockets when compared to traditional contact learning universities, however, because it caters to such a large population of students, its turnaround time for tending to student inquiries takes a very long time. Unisa is also a correspondence university (distance learning), which means that as a working student, for example, you control where and when you would like to learn; making it an appealing alternative to traditional universities. Amidst the disadvantages listed above, Unisa sits comfortably in its raking amongst the top Echelon of South African universities.
If one prioritizes their learning and remains well organized, Unisa can be a great institution.
This university is an online based learning for students from every aspect of life whether you are working full time, part-time or you are a stay home mother. The online lectures are easy to access and you as a student you have your own student site where you can be able to tracker your performance and get your academic record and also get your study material in PDF, so you can download them for use later. I would recommend this University to anyone who wants to study at home or who is working.
View moreWhen I got to unisa I thought it’ll be bad considering it’s a distance learning but it’s not that bad. The lecturers do make arrangements with students left behind with school work just so everyone is in the same path.
View moreSo far my experience on this university has been good, although I would say it was a very rude awakening because 98% of the time you are your own teacher, and I am a first year LLB student. The university is great for people who are working because of the flexible time schedule.
View moreI called UNISA this morning requesting proof of registration and official exam results for the first semester. I spoke Kemi Malale, she said I am wasting her time when I was requesting for these important documents so that I can claim money from my bursary to pay the outstanding fees for the second semester. Then she insulted me and dropped the phone while talking to her. I am very disappointed with the service I got from UNISA today.
View moreOnline examinations are bad due to loadshedding affecting the whole country. The university doesn’t cater for affected students, you’ll have to re-register the module in which it delays your goals and prosperity and puts one into financial constraints.
View moreMy opinion about University Of South Africa is that it is a great distance learning university. I get to study and work at the same time. I study at my own and at the comfort of my own home. This is a very nice University. Since it’s a distance learning university, sometimes I go directly to the offices in Johannesburg, they have friendly staff who works there and they are very helpful.
View moreLarge numbers of foreign students from many countries in the world study at UNISA. This has been the case for the last thirty years.
The notes and study manuals are in English. The study guides are comprehensive and easy to understand.
There is no face to face lectures. Students have to work on their own. Students have to be disciplined, committed and put in the work.
Students not proficient in the English language might find it a challenge studying at UNISA.
It is internationally recognised and is rated 801 amongst 1000 Globally rated Universities.
View moreThe programme and each course within it provided A detailed and comprehensive package of course material with well-prepared course manuals, study guides and exam preparatory material. The programmes also allowed for ready access to tutors and faculty.
View moreWith my programme, I’ve experienced that some lecturers aren’t active in student grievances. I know I have had problems with my network which causes me to lose time to submit especially with the new system. It’s not accommodating not only for me but for most people. The new system is difficult. Unisa should be more accomodating.
