I like how there’s so much control and strictness. The lecturers are very good at their job and also the services they offer offer besides education. I remember how I struggled with the varsity life and how hard it was for me to manage but I went to Thuso, signed up for therapy and attended sessions which really helped me with adjusting. The NWU campus is beautiful, with modern facilities. The lectures are knowledgeable and always willing to help.One of the stand out features of NWU is its diverse community. I made friends from all walks of life and we learn so much from each other ,online platform needs improvement. Overall ,I’m grateful for experience and knowledge gained at NWU.

North West University is the University i would recommend to somebody who likes to socialize and being with other and like to be guarantee with security. What i like most about North West University is the quality of lecturers that we have, they are so good to students and they like giving out advices if necessary and the premises are well to be at.

After graduating from North-West University in 2023 with a BA in Humanities that included English, I can honestly state that the experience was eye-opening! If you have a passion for literature but would also like to study other humanities fields, this program is ideal for you.

The classes were diverse, ranging from in-depth analysis of English literature to courses on history, philosophy, and even art history. It gave me a well-rounded understanding of human culture and expression. The English courses were especially strong, with professors who were passionate about the written word. They helped me develop critical thinking skills and a deeper appreciation for different writing styles.

What I liked most was the focus on both classic and contemporary works. We studied Shakespeare and Jane Austen, but also explored modern African literature and current social issues. This kept the learning interesting and relevant to the world today.

While the program had a strong focus on literature, the flexibility to explore other Humanities subjects allowed me to tailor my studies to my interests. I even took a course on ancient mythology, which ended up being one of my favorites!

I honestly love North-West University. I loved my classes, professors, and even the time that I worked there. The university aims at inclusivity and accessibility and they achieve it in many ways. However, they err on the side of helping students with their administrative tasks sometimes. It’s not that it doesn’t get done, but that it takes a while as the system is, as with most South African universities, quite convoluted. However, I know the staff and I know they truly love the students. They truly care about education. I just wish they would streamline some processes more in the near future.
