I was at UCT for 2 years. The first year I placed myself of the Dean’s List and hoped UCT would value my contributions as a student. Instead, the following year they made an error with my curriculum and approved it without properly evaluating certain courses. This negatively impacted the length of my degree as in second semester they gave me no option but to drop the course already PASSED their set deadline to pick up new courses. This forced my degree to lengthen due to their negligence. Now I have left UCT and am in the process of transferring internationally. Instead of support with this process from UCT regarding specific documents I need, I am left with NO communication after several attempts at emails and phone calls to the institution. They’ve offered very little assistance with this matter. It truly highlights exactly how UCT view its students. I am extremely disappointed.
View moreI enjoyed my 5 years at UCT between 1995 and 2000, graduating with a BA Honours in English Literature and Sociology. What a beautiful campus and a good experience it was. Looking back, I could have done more research on my subject choices and also participated more on campus initiatives. Having 2 jobs whilst studying added to my responsibilities. I find my studies very useful to my life as I can apply it to many of the different fields that I have subsequently been employed in.
