At the time, it was one of them most organised institutions in the country. This is comparing to what my peers experienced in other universities.
From admission, registration, residences, – the processes we really swift. Facilities were top notch!
View moreI like the many great avenues and facilities available for student to explore. I dislike its very expensive fees which alienates the middle and lower class. It degrades other students and denies them their basic right to education.

View moreI was at UCT for 2 years. The first year I placed myself of the Dean’s List and hoped UCT would value my contributions as a student. Instead, the following year they made an error with my curriculum and approved it without properly evaluating certain courses. This negatively impacted the length of my degree as in second semester they gave me no option but to drop the course already PASSED their set deadline to pick up new courses. This forced my degree to lengthen due to their negligence. Now I have left UCT and am in the process of transferring internationally. Instead of support with this process from UCT regarding specific documents I need, I am left with NO communication after several attempts at emails and phone calls to the institution. They’ve offered very little assistance with this matter. It truly highlights exactly how UCT view its students. I am extremely disappointed.
View moreIt’s very theory focused and the course loads are heavy, but it’s a very enriching experience with lecturers who are passionate about the field and are supportive of your post grad goals. I’d recommend going to UCT if you’re looking at universities in South Africa – especially if you’re looking for a very diverse student body
View moreI enjoyed my 5 years at UCT between 1995 and 2000, graduating with a BA Honours in English Literature and Sociology. What a beautiful campus and a good experience it was. Looking back, I could have done more research on my subject choices and also participated more on campus initiatives. Having 2 jobs whilst studying added to my responsibilities. I find my studies very useful to my life as I can apply it to many of the different fields that I have subsequently been employed in.
View moreYou can find people of every race and culture at UCT. This is especially beneficial for students from towns and rural areas. This diversity promotes self-development, foreign language study, courage, and a strong sense of moral principles. There is always academic support available, and students are given the assistance they need to succeed academically. Health care facilities are conveniently located on campus and are all easily accessible at UCT.
View moreUCT has a reason for being the top university in Africa. This is since it provides highly equipped research, facilities and lecturers who are highly skilled and passionate in their area of expertise. In turn, this leads students to walk out of the university academically enriched and confident in their future career. This is precisely what I admire about UCT. However, with the university’s academically enriching programme, comes with it the extensive workload which could at times be very taxing on students. Nonetheless, if students manage to keep up with their work and stay organized, there is no doubt that they will still walk out successful. Therefore, for these reasons I would highly recommend UCT.
