I loved that help was always available from tutors to lectures. Staying on top of the classes or modules assisted and having one on one sessions was a bonus. My business studies lecture was outstanding and was willing to do extra hours or classes
View moreI’d say the University of the Western Cape is a place that really grows you, not just academically but personally too. It has a strong sense of community, and you’re constantly reminded of its history of resilience, transformation, and social justice. The lecturers are generally supportive and knowledgeable, and while the workload can be challenging, it pushes you to think critically and become independent.
Like any university, it has its ups and downs, administration can sometimes be slow, and you need to be proactive to get things done. But if you’re willing to put in the effort, there are plenty of opportunities to learn, get involved, and find your voice. Overall, UWC feels like a university that genuinely cares about shaping graduates who want to make a difference in society.
View moreThe University of the Western Cape has great undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Some lecturers in the postgraduate department, particularly in the Industrial Psychology Department are nonchalant and offer no guidance. They just teach the modules and couldn’t care less about helping students succeed through consultation sessions or feedback. This of course is not the case with all lecturers.
Overall it is a good University with a decent campus and the administrative staff are always so friendly. Campus life is also good. There are plenty food stores on campus with different food menus and all off them have some delicious foods.
This university provides world class learning experience. My experience in particular was so amazing because I was given the freedom to learn the way I am most comfortable in. First year was interesting because it was mostly remote learning as it was in the midst of a pandemic. From second year on we were on campus which was a breath of fresh air, classes were informative, and the professors are amazing.

Some of my lectures don’t teach properly. We’re finding it difficult to understand them.
But I do commend them for reaching out and actually checking if we understand the work.
This is my first year. I’d like to say the experience isn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I thought it was going to be horrible and dull, but it has been very pleasant so far! I’d still like to explore more as I’ve only been here for 2 months.
View moreI am really pleased to say that so far I have had an amazing experience learning as lecturers would go into detail with contents.
However, the universities communication system really lacks communication. They take weeks to respond.
