Polytechnic University of Timisoara – UPT

The Polytechnic University of Timisoara was founded as the Polytechnic School of Timisoara in 1920. A Royal Decree was granted to set up the institution in the aftermath of World War I when the country needed to train more engineers.

By 1970 the institution was comprised of 5 faculties and focused on the education of engineers. The Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism is the youngest of the faculties at the university today. In 1995 the institution finally became known by its current name.

Studies at The Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism

The number of both students and teachers at the faculty has been increasing since the founding of the school a couple of decades ago, and impressively, they have achieved more than 15 awards and mentions in professional competitions.

The Faculty encourages ‘individual creativity’ and offers two specialisations at bachelor level at the moment – Architecture and Furniture and Interior Design. Courses are run at bachelor, masters, and PhD levels.

Masters at the Faculty include: Urban Planning and Landscape Design, Trends, New Materials and Technologies in Interior Architecture, Complex Building Design, and Heritage Restoration and Regeneration.

Students also have an opportunity to study abroad while at the faculty through the Erasmus European Programme.

Life at the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism

Students in this faculty have use of the university facilities such as modern student accommodation, a student canteen, sports facilities, and educational facilities.
