When I arrived I couldn’t say a word. I had thought it would be easier being Spanish, but I found out that not only could I not say anything, I couldn’t even understand. This was the first month, then I started to understand easily and eventually I learned to pronounce more or less like they do. I think knowing other languages helped me a lot, especially French, because it sounds similar.
