University for Arts and Technology in the heart of Lisbon

The bachelor program I’m enrolled in is “Creative Technology” which complies with technology and visual arts. It is a new and innovative major that is in high demand in the workforce. Personally, I am not a fan of the technicalities of programming and technology but this major just covers the basics and fundamentals of programming and focuses more on the creativity and the implementation of it using technology which is perfect for me. This major is highly project-based and relies very little on actual assessments and this really prepares you for the workforce. This program was exactly what I was expecting and I love all aspects of it, there were no surprises and I would definitely recommend this program to my friends. On the downside, the university has very little “university life”, there aren’t many social activities held by the university for students to integrate more and that resulted in me having a tough time making friends. Most students are Portuguese/speak Portuguese and have very few International students.
Professors are not the best at teaching, you have to do a lot of work from your side to understand the course. The facilities are not really worth the money you have to pay, they are very mediocre considering it is a “creative university”.

Hey! I’m going to enroll on the same degree and I would like to have a talk with you since I’m so afraid of getting disappointed once is not my first college I would have to quit. Is it possible to have a talk?

I did. I just graduated. The first review is right on literally everything.

What has changed about it compared to the first review:
(1) they moved to a new campus with better facilities;
(2), learning on the side is actually not a bad thing. The professors will give you all the assistance you might need. They are amazing. But you still have to learn on the side. I’d say its not that they’re no good at teaching, they’re preparing you for the real-world. This means that if you don’t know how to do that something, you have to figure it out. You don’t wait for professors, or work colleagues to do it for you. If you do, you will just stay behind.

This programs offers so much that it would be impossible to master everything during classes. It gives you all the basics of current and future trends when it comes to digital media. It is definitely not traditional academia so you’re not evaluated by exams. I’d definitely recommend this bachelor’s to my friends.

You can choose which side you want to focus on (tech or art) but creativity plays a big role. As well as project management, soft skills and public speaking. Nothing to complain about this bachelor’s. A especial shout out to Prof. Dias and Prof. Boavida.
