My overall opinion about UBI is pretty good. Although it is a relatively small university with around 9000 students, it has a lot to offer and a wide variety of degrees available. At UBI, you can encouter the right environment to study and succeed in life. There is a wide variety of projets you can join as well and make your studies less stressful and more interesting.
View moreThe university does not have many students compared to other universities, which allows students to get to know the professors better and vice versa. But some course subjects are outdated, such as programming in C.
View moreI think that most professors could make a little more effort to provide students with more materials, such as worksheets, since they always teach the same subject every year, the work can be reused over the years, and also to provide more solutions of worksheets to the students so that we can better understand the matter through the resolution.
View moreIn the few months that I’ve been at UBI, I’ve realized that it’s an excellent university, with excellent conditions and with professors who are very accessible and willing to help us as much as possible, not only the professors but also our colleagues who help us in different ways. ways, focusing now on the environment around Covilhã is an excellent place to be despite the cold, here we have a type of contact between people very different from other universities, strong and lasting friendships are established here, and so does anyone who passes through here there will be some funny stories to tell in the future and a great desire to return here.
View moreIm my opinion, and anyone that has brains, the university simply puts asside everyday necessities of the students and their learning opportunities are fewer every year. With teacher that do not know how to teach to some geniuses that simply think it’s too easy to explain, we pay 680€ a year and are rewarded with complete disinterest from the university. Being on the aerospace department, it’s a shame FCS (Faculdade das Ciências da Saúde), that belongs to UBI as well, gets investments of half a million euros on some classroom, and we barely make it into a internship on our own.
View moreIt is a young university in constant growth. The spirit of unity is something that is felt throughout the entire university. It is a good university in terms of teaching quality, something I recommend. Another strong point is the fact that you can study in Covilhã as it is a calm, serene city, with a spectacular academic spirit, where friendships are made for life.
View moreThis masters degree in aeronautical engenering is poorly managed by the professors, there are a few decent professor, but the vast majority is there for a undeserved paycheck, not for the future of aeronautics and their students
View more Good underrated University, with some problems in terms of professors, but with interesting courses and with much space to improvment.
Some facilities of the University could be better and some investment is needed.
Overral, it is a Young University with a very good review but haver some things that neee improvment
UBI is a university with a lot of history. It´s located in Covilhã, near Serra da Estrela, which is where the highest altitudes in mainland Portugal are located. Covilhã it’s a beautiful city in the center of Portugal and it’s relatively small which is good because you can go everywhere on foot. On the other hand, as Covilhã is near the mountains, its streets are pretty steep. You’re going to be constantly climbing or descending every street, so cardio won’t be what you’re going to need to do in your free time, that’s for sure.
I’m studying aeronautical engineering and overall I’m liking it, we have a hangar and some laboratories, and also have subjects related to propulsion, structures, systems, aerodynamics and so on.
The people are very friendly and that is what I like the most.
If you want a good balance between studying and social life this university is good for you!
The city that this University is located is a calm, small and cheap city, which is perfect for students.
The engineering faculty is small and easy to navegate. There are different types of classrooms, some confortable but some are a nightmare to sit in for hours.
Regarding the teachers, it depends. Some are nice, some are not.
For my deggree there is a huge lack regarding the technical side of engineering. It would be better if the curriculum included classes where we could “get our hands dirty”.
The University care for the students is what takes the score down to three stars. Uncortable chairs and a couple of mean professors are nothing compared to the desregard the University has for its students. For example, they are not strict with teachers giving marks so some teachers take 2 or 3 months to give us the scores for our tests. They also do not take into consideration the students opinions, which is weird since they force us to rate and give our opinion on the classes and professors at the end of each semester.
The city also does not respect the students very much, which is weird considering the studentys are the main life of this city. For example as a aeronautical engineering student it was very important to have an airfield in the city, which it did but it was replaced by a giant pen drive. YES THE CITY HAD A FULL FUNCTIONING AIRFIELD THAT WAS REPLACED BY A GIANT PEN DRIVE. And everytime we look at the data center we get reminded of the previous use of that area since they build it right in the middle of were the runway of the airfield was.
