I’ve enjoyed it overall and I would’ve chosen it again. I do think the translation courses could be done better. I don’t like linguistics so I’m not gonna try to give an objective opinion, but I think the literature classes have been conducted well. When it comes to preparation for writing the thesis, I think there should’ve been more opportunities to practice academic writing in the first two years. But the professors are mostly chill and the atmosphere is mostly nice.

I really like the lectures, sometimes I can’t focus bc of the speed of them but with a lot of hard work I can get it done at home. There’s a lot of work, but it’s very enjoyable. People are very open and friendly. The only thing I do mind is the lack of events, I hope in the future there will be more

Lastly, the student body at Uwr itself is a highlight of the educational experience. Students from diverse cultures and add rich dimensions to campus life. The Institute of English Philology is an extremely multicultural faculty. Every student I know seems to feel comfortable. The syllabus for English Philology, however, is not created in a educational way – an example would be the 4 semester writing class, which looked exactly the same each semester, sometimes even repeating exercises from previous semesters. There is a feeling that many classes are mandatory only to fill the ECTS quota. Professors are friendly people with lots of experience, which is much appreciated. The building of the faculty itself leaves much to be desired – the heating in winter is set extremely high, which is uncomfortable when spending time in the building for long periods of time. In many classes there are old wooden benches which are extremely uncomfortable to sit on; I personally even used to bring a pillow to sit on because it was impossible to sit in those seats for 3 hours at a time. The lift is often out of order, which means disabled students often cannot get to their classrooms. The library is cozy and comfortable, with many books free to take home, however the couches and pillows are dirty and often ripped.

I dislike the overall quality of the course, especially that it doesn’t provide the possibilities that was promised at the start, in terms of offered classes.
It lacks in the area of opportunities for people who are not necessarily planning on becoming a translator or someone connected strictly with business.

Although most of the lecturers are great, there still is a lot of room for improvement of the subjects they teach. Some of them, as Business Vocabulary during the third year, seem to be basically redundant, and it is visible that the teacher either does not care about the quality of the material they convey, or they simply do not know how to do this. Moving on, another aspect that screams for improvement is furnishing of the institute, especially seats. They are mostly old and uncomfortable, while the newer ones are often placed in such small rooms, that there is no space for movement. Also, some classrooms are equipped with so small desks or benches, that they are basically inconvenient for some a bit taller students.

Overall I like my university, the professors are usually nice and helpful, they also know what they are talking about. The student community is very diverse and welcoming, and most of the courses are interesting and fun to attend. However, the institute seems to be really underfunded. The building looks nice on the outside, but on the inside it’s worse. The benches and chairs are really uncomfortable to sit on, especially for long periods of time.

I am not satisfied with the second cycle of studies. There are a lot of pointless classes and lectures that bring nothing to your future professional life. The lesson plan is not well organized. There are lecturers without teaching talent.
