Is it worth studying at the University of Warsaw?
Reflecting on my years at the Faculty of Education, my overall opinion is positive. There were plenty of interesting courses, innovative activities, and supportive, open-minded professors and staff members who were always willing to help and made you feel like one of their own. Studying at one of the best—or second-best—universities in Poland was a rewarding experience.
However, what stands out to me is the state of the faculty building, which, unfortunately, serves as a perfect metaphor for the condition of the Polish education system—or its future, given the government’s approach and the limited budget allocated to education.
That aside, I spent a few great years pursuing two master’s degrees simultaneously: Career Counselling and Bilingual Education. Despite the lack of resources, I truly enjoyed my classes, especially those related to the labor market, intercultural communication, psychology (which was an absolute blast!), child development, and language teaching methods. Personally, I would have preferred fewer hours dedicated to philosophy, though I do recognize its value in fostering reflective thinking and shaping one’s approach to life.
Would I choose the same university again? Absolutely. The University of Warsaw is an institution with a long tradition, situated in the heart of Poland, and one we can be proud of—at least when studying at the main campus. However, if I had the chance to do it all over again, I might select additional or different courses to further enhance my employability.
I hope my review helps new students in making their decision about further education. Good luck!
