As a CICT student, one of the biggest challenges I noticed during my stay at WVSU was the outdated facilities and teaching methods. The computers, software, and lab resources provided to us were not aligned with the fast-paced developments in the IT industry. While the foundation of learning was solid, the environment felt behind compared to the tools and technologies used in the real world.
When I graduated and entered the workforce, the gap became even clearer. Many of the practices, programming techniques, and methodologies emphasized in our classes were already obsolete in modern workplaces. Instead of preparing us for industry-ready skills, the curriculum seemed more focused on traditional approaches that were relevant years ago.
This lack of updated training made the transition to actual work quite challenging. I had to spend extra time self-studying and retraining just to catch up with industry standards. While the professors were knowledgeable and supportive, the curriculum and resources clearly need updating to stay competitive with other universities.

Overall Impression
WVSU CICT has potential, but to truly prepare students for the IT field, the university must invest in updated resources, modernize its curriculum, and integrate real-world practices. Otherwise, graduates may struggle with the skills gap when entering the workforce.
