My school is one of the best. It was a great time of learning. The lecturers gave us good foundations, we just had to build on them.
Campus life was fun from being a fresher to a finisher, we had extra tutorials, night classes to strengthen and buttress our knowledge; we also had some extracurricular activities like sports and get togethers to unwind.
My dislikes were the strikes that interrupted with our academic calendar and some mixups with lecture venues were unpleasant due to the transportation inconveniences.
Generally, it was a great time 😊.
View moreI attended the prestigious University of Uyo fondly called Uniuyo from 2012-2016. At that period getting admissions into the university was an arduous task due to the mamoth crowd of candidates cued up for professional courses and the bottle neck of scaling through Jamb and the then facing aptitude test that was more tribalistic in University of uyo. So I had to pass through the remedial course and was admitted to the Chemistry Department. Uniuyo is a school I am proud of anytime in my life because they produced one of the best brains i can think of.
Their level of discipline, moral standards and lectures were something to reckon with while their exams were also very transparent. It made me to be an independent thinker and able to work in any environment or facet of life im been thrown.
University of Uyo is located in a very accessible location in town which makes it easy for people to find. The science laboratories are well equipped although we could do with some upgrade. There are high career prospects as a student of the school.
View moreI like that the lecturers in my department take their jobs seriously. They take their time to lecture and answer questions. We also have lots of practical classes which is good. I would love the school to improve on electricity.
View moreIn University of Uyo, accommodation for students is poor. The student hostels are very congested and unkempt. The population of students per room should be looked into. More toilets and bathrooms are needed too.
View moreThe university of Uyo is situated at the heart of town which makes it very accessible. The lecture halls are really spacious and conducive. The lecturers try to complete their syllabus before examinations. I love it here. You would too
View moreThe method in which handling of school fees is done is not student friendly.
Students could spend a whole day at the office without getting their receipt stamped.
It is advisable to employ more workers, or change the space so as student won’t be cramped up together.
Life in the university is an interesting experience one has to undergo towards transitioning into adulthood. I would say I’m a proud alumnus of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO). Although my program (Biochemistry) was a challenging one, I gained a wealth of knowledge which shaped me into being able to work in a dynamic and challenging environment. My lecturers and Professors imbibed in me the effectiveness of team collaboration. UNIUYO is known for dispensing excellence to her students, hardly would you find a UNIUYO student bribing or sorting a lecturer just to pass a course. Although, one thing I didn’t find pleasing was the issue of insecurity in the school, especially during the examination period, there were occasional cult clashes and robberies of hostels in broad daylight. The school can do better by employing armed security personnel and fixing footage cameras in every nook and cranny of the school. A typical school day included waking up at the early hours of the day, queuing in the hostel bathroom (LOL), sourcing for breakfast, and running to lecture halls just to get a good space (lecture halls most times didn’t accommodate a large number of students, especially First-year students), lectures mostly ended by 4 pm WAT. In the evening students would mostly gather in gardens, a known garden was the law garden, some would attend night classes while some students watched various tv programs in their various hostel halls others would rest or engage in other fun activities. Based on academic performance I would strongly recommend UNIUYO to aspire students. The University of Uyo is yet to be internationally recognised as one of the top universities worldwide. Having gained a smattering amount of knowledge in Biochemistry I would say I can fit into diverse fields in the health, pharmaceutical and industrial sectors. Biochemistry has a large number of career prospects. Considering how technology is changing with time, my love for the statistical analytical aspect of biological research has made me develop an interest in transitioning into Data Analytics. I would say I feel excited about my new career.
