What I liked about my school is the existence of a reading team. To be very honest, teachers were looking for ways to make it harder for students which I believe is NOT the mission of the school. On their part, they wanted us to be passionate about education but what that was doing was making students give up easily and expect worse results after an exam. Personally, UNILAG is never behind on social activities which goes well with the ‘all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy’ phrase.
There are also groups in different departments that can serve as a foundation of what we should expect after school. My career prospects are solely based on what I want for MYSELF. I’m in the process of getting my ICAN certificate. Even after that, I don’t know where my future lies because of the high rate of unemployment. UNILAG is very international in my own opinion. What many schools fail at is informing their students about what the future looks like. They might not know what the future holds for each person, but we can prepare our minds for whatever is to come based on the experience they share with us.
