I’d say the experience has been a mix of good and challenging. The lecturers are generally knowledgeable and passionate, especially in core education courses as I’m a student of the faculty of education , but sometimes the teaching methods feel outdated while they simultaneously lean a bit too much in the independent student learning direction. Facilities are okay but could definitely be better at least in my faculty, the classrooms are usually spacious and okay, the more populous departments conduct their lecturers in halls and access to resources like internet is student independent. On the bright side, there’s a strong sense of community among students and an enhanced social experience, the faculty tries to involve us in seminars and there are compulsory practical teaching experiences. Overall, it’s an above decent place to study education, but there’s room for improvement in infrastructure and student support.
View moreTo start with, admission is NOT EASY! I estimate that more than half the student population are not studying their prefered courses, or backup options, as the case was with me.
Initially it was all about getting your head down, going through the motions, and scalling through. However, at a certain point it gets under your skin a bit, you soak the environment (you’ve got to), then it all becomes about “where do you see yourself at so so”, looking at the big picture and building towards it amidst whatever you’ve got going on.
View moreMy opinion about the University of Lagos is that they are very competitive and vision-inclined, with the aim to build a whole person that will compete with their counterparts globally. I like their tenacity towards building an excellent and independent individual, but I dislike their overly competitive spirit within the system. Fantastically, 100% to be recommended as a university with top-notch excellence and service.
View moreThe lessons were delivered but hindered and prolonged because of the unnecessary strikes by the government and educational bodies. Overall great course with a good job prospect even though getting the degree was very stressful.
