This University needs a lot of improvement. The hostel rooms are not habitable, sometimes you wont even get water to use. They do not have enough equipment for learning for instance 50 students will be required to share just 3 microscope.
View moreUniversity of Lagos is a very good school with passionate lecturers. As at the time I did my masters in 2016, the science laboratories had not been equipped, they did things in archaic ways. Apart from not being well equipped, the consumables needed to run experiments were expensive which was a great obstacle to performing comprehensive research.
View moreThis University is a hundred percent an opportunity for one to get exposure and it has it own unique way of boosting your social life and at the same time putting you on your toes to achieve success.
View moreCell biology and genetics is a very unique course that is only available in university of Lagos among all universities in Nigeria as an undergraduate degree. View moreI didn’t really like the program because there was a strike every session and the teachers saw themselves as gods on earth. the student life was great. I didn’t experience much internationality in the school
View moreThe university tries to make the most with what is obtainable and I think that is remarkable. The University, located in the heart of Lagos, provides students with several avenues to explore other areas of interest outside the 4 walls of the University.
View moreThe school is okay. Teachers taught the best they could and make sure the students understand. Practicals were minimal which needs to be improved. Extracurricular activities are organized well. The library needs to be updated.
View moreTheir programme was a very interesting one but it was not properly facilitated, the accommodation was generally poor and the student life is one of the best in Nigeria. The career prospects of attending the school are limited to Nigeria while the school is highly social and open to international students.
View moreVery difficult place but forever loved. Good environment and people. The entire experience lives with me from that day to this, and I am still very humbly grateful to the University and all the people I met.
View moreI can’t tell what the rest of the school was like, but my experience during my Cell Biology and Genetics programme revealed the lacklustre state of infrastructure, equipment, and the academic endeavour at the University of Lagos. As a student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a biological science course, I had expected a hands-on learning experience, but what I got disenchanted me to biology and this saddening period was a low point in my life that grew into long-term depression. When I look back on the time, I appreciate the lecturers who strove to deliver quality education within the privation they had to work and all the great personalities I encountered who helped me through the time and shaped my perspective on life. I would guess that UNILAG has an appreciable level of international recognition due to its alumni who have excelled in international academic spaces and industries. I am a proud Akokite (UNILAG alumnus pseudonym), but I wish the school wasn’t a relic of an ambitious idea of a thriving capsule for the Nigerian intelligentsia when I attended it.
