Obafemi Awolowo University is a great one and I’ve really enjoyed my time in this programme. The classes are engaging, and the lecturers are supportive and easy to approach. I like the mix of theory and practical work, which keeps things interesting. The only downside is that admin processes can be a bit slow at times. Overall, I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a solid and friendly learning environment.
View moreIt’s a very prestigious school I must say with Lecturers that have a great knowledge of the courses(though not all) and it helped me to build discipline. Being a student, I learnt how to balance different parts of my life, physical, spiritual, emotional, mental, health etc. It helped me to discover my potential and meet different people. I dislike the fact that our learning there was majorly theoretical and we had little practical experience, there was also the issue of congestion in lecture theaters (I also hated early morning classes).
View moreI enjoyed living and learning in this citadel of learning. The lecturers in the Department of Animal Science and my thesis supervisor were superheroes without capes. They were helpful without being condescending and eager to share their wealth of knowledge. This prepared me for the labour market. I definitely hope to come back for doctoral studies.

I attend Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile ife, Osun state in Nigeria also known as OAU. My school has been rated as one of the top 10 universities in Nigeria so it’s safe to say it’s one of the best. I love my school and I chose to go there because of the numerous successful alumni I know and I’ve come in contact with. One of the things my school is known for is producing successful people. Asides producing successful people, it’s also known for its beautiful campus, industrious students and it’s lecturers who are like mentors. It’s a school where you meet people who share your opinions and it’s helps you be the best you can be. The student union of the school are no joke either, the student rights are the top priority for this committee. They also organize shows, seminars even music concerts to help students loosen up after few weeks of intense studies. My school has good facilities too and conducive classrooms for students to assimilate better. The school gives good education generally and as much as I love the school, there are a few things I hate and the top on my list is it’s location. The school is situated in a very indigenous state where the community thinks it has a significant say in what the school can or cannot do and the government really can’t do anything about it. Another thing is the school’s security. The schools security is tight as they implemented strategies in which they can uphold peace and safety in the school but there are still minimal cases of students riots every now and then. These are just my opinions and I’d recommend the school to anyone regardless. Some call Obafemi Awolowo University the Nigeria’s version of Stanford university. There are a lot of experiences and I still learn something cool about my school everyday. No one regrets coming to OAU.

View moreFirst of all, Obafemi Awolowo University(OAU) is a top-notch institution among all other federal schools in the country right now. It was founded in 1962 (60 years ago) and yet still maintains a classy standard. For me, I enjoy the student-conducive environment and love her acceptance rate per year.

View moreThe Microbiology program at the Obafemi Awolowo University is one that exposes you to myriads of excellent minds and research ongoing in the world of Microbiology, it offers the opportunity to be able to network with colleagues and members from other departments, which helps to bolster the innovative spark needed to achieve success while carrying out research.
However this is not to say it doesn’t have its shortcomings, lack of adequate research equipment and facilities is a big problem across many public institutions in Nigeria Obafemi Awolowo University is one of them, I’d say the department is underfunded, the faculty is understaffed and the pressure on the equipment is much due to the student to lecturer ratio.
On the issue of accommodation, I think a lot needs to be done to better put students at an advantage when it comes to housing and accommodation, the maintenance culture is lacking amongst various halls of residence in the University which has led to poor living conditions amongst the student community.
In sum, I think the school remains one of the good public institutions in the country and can be improved upon in terms of infrastructure, research facilities, housing, etc.
