As a 300 level student of the University of Ibadan (UI), I can confidently say that my experience in the school has been a mixture of challenges, learning, and personal growth. UI is popularly known as the Premier University, and from my years here, I understand why it has that reputation. The academic environment is serious, and students are expected to be disciplined, focused, and hardworking. UI is not the type of university where you can succeed by relying on shortcuts. If you want good results, you must be ready to read consistently and stay committed.
Overall, my experience as a 300 level student in the University of Ibadan has been valuable. Despite challenges such as limited hostel spaces, crowded lecture halls, and some outdated facilities, UI remains a great institution with strong academic standards and good exposure. The university teaches students discipline, resilience, and responsibility. I would recommend UI to students who are ready to work hard and make the most of their university experience.
Studying Industrial Chemistry at the University of Ibadan (UI), Nigeria’s first tertiary institution, was a transformative journey. The Department of Chemistry offered a rigorous, industry-focused curriculum supported by knowledgeable lecturers, state-of-the-art laboratories, and extensive library resources. The professors were very helpful and easily accessible to students.
A standout experience was joining Chem Intellect, a student club that fostered innovation through workshops, competitions, and mentorship, providing invaluable career insights.
Living on campus was pleasant, with safe housing, serene surroundings, and essential amenities, despite occasional challenges typical of Nigeria. UI’s vibrant community and recreational facilities ensured a balanced academic and social life.
As the nation’s premier university, UI’s historic legacy and commitment to excellence instilled pride and purpose in every student. My time there equipped me with knowledge, skills, and lifelong passion for learning. I highly recommend UI to anyone seeking an outstanding educational foundation.

View moreThe University of Ibadan is a great citadel of learning geared to meet up the international standard across its faculties. The environment is conducive for learning with a large number of students accommodation. The university is known for its top-notch admission screening process as well as stipulated slots compared to some overpopulated institutions. UI lags the integration of technology into academic activities. Also, UI doesn’t rush academic sessions. The majority of the lecturers are versed, grounded and understand their field of study. Facilities are provided in a remarkable sense. Lastly, social life is minimal within the campus.
“If it’s from Ibadan, then it must be of an outstanding quality”
