Attending the University of Ibadan was a truly transformative experience for me. As Nigeria’s premier university, UI offered a strong academic foundation with rigorous coursework and access to knowledgeable professors who were passionate about their fields. The learning environment was both challenging and inspiring, pushing students to think critically and independently.
One standout aspect was the vibrant campus life. Beyond academics, there were many opportunities for personal growth through student organizations, cultural events, and sporting activities. The university community was diverse, fostering an atmosphere of collaboration and shared learning.
Facilities such as the library and research centers were well-resourced compared to many other institutions in the country, though there were occasional infrastructural challenges typical of public universities. Nevertheless, the sense of tradition, excellence, and resilience among students and faculty made the overall experience enriching.
In summary, the University of Ibadan provided me with both academic excellence and life skills that continue to benefit me today. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a well-rounded higher education experience in Nigeria.

I wish UI would pay more attention to sporting activities and also the social activities of students
The University of Ibadan is a great citadel of knowledge, it’s a place to learn, grow and develop yourself in all aspects of life. It’s a place where diligence is rewarded. What I love most about the school is its serene environment. The learning environment is very conducive, school accommodation is very affordable and accessible also. Lecturers are kind yet disciplined, they care about the welfare of the students in the department. They always try to know why you (Students) haven’t performed well in tests and exams. The school hostels are neat, food prices are regulated at the cafeteria…What I dislike about the school is the incessant strikes by the unions which leads to a prolonged academic calendar.
