The university of Calabar is a great school with a great opportunity for student to learn, it has capable and well knowledgeable lectures, I like the conducive teaching environment,I like the availability of various teaching equipment, I don’t like the fact that they give addmition to more students than required, I don’t like the fact that they give addmition to students to study courses that have not been accredited. The university of Calabar is not perfect but have a perfect educational system.
View moreThe University of Calabar offers a mixed bag of experiences. Students often praise the *dedicated lecturers* and *relevant course content*, especially in fields like Educational Psychology, which blends theory with practical insights⁽¹⁾. However, many also highlight challenges such as *slow administrative processes*, *limited facilities*, and occasional frustrations with bureaucracy⁽²⁾. Despite the hurdles, the environment encourages discipline and personal growth, making it a place where resilience is key.
View moreThe University of Calabar is one of the best universities in south-east of Nigeria. It is renown for it’s flexibility in the teaching and learning process with a well equipped physical library alongside an e-library and well qualified teaching staff. Noted for it’s reputation in churning and producing the best minds, some of which occupy top positions in different Universities in Cameroon. It is worthy to note, however, that the processing of students academic records is done manually without a digital platform to ease smooth access to student records. However, the positive aspects outweighs the negative. University of Calabar recommend a citadel of learning and environmental for preparing future leaders. I do therefore recommend this University to whoever seeking for a conducive and credible place to study
View moreMy dislike about the university is regarding the fact of hostel accommodation. It’s always so difficult to get accommodation once a yr is over.
My like is the fact of teaching. I can’t lie our lecturers are made intelligently
The University of Calabar is a vibrant and academically solid institution, known for its strong programs in law, medicine, and the arts. While it faces challenges like strikes and infrastructure issues, its rich campus life and dedicated lecturers make it a rewarding place to study. I like the university overall and would recommend it to students who are focused, adaptable, and ready to make the most of the experience.
View moreUniversity of calabar is a beautiful organization with a great environment. The lecturers are quite interesting and good at what they do. The campus life is worthwhile too.
Uptil when the database issue was brought up into the school, it was archaic and backwards in processing data. Transcript collection was hell but with the current Vice Chancellor, the school has gone digital and everything is running smoothly.
Be social with your lectures it’ll boost your academic cos you’ll be able to reach out to them for better explanations and they’ll always oblige.
Wishing you a wonderful stay.
View moreI studied Human Nutrition and Dietetics at UNICAL, and honestly, it was more than just a degree, it was a journey. The department pushed me hard, but it also built me up. Great lecturers, real-life lessons, and just enough chaos to keep things interesting.
UNICAL gave me knowledge, grit, and some of the best people I’ve ever met. Malabor forever ❤️.
Studying at the University of Calabar was a defining part of my life. I was in the Department of Genetics and Biotechnology — the only one offering that course in the whole of Nigeria. That alone made the experience feel unique. However, the department still lacks the recognition and support it deserves.
The curriculum is actually quite impressive. In terms of content, it’s better than what I’ve seen from similar programs abroad. But the truth is, it’s not yet up to full global standards, especially in practical application, research opportunities, and exposure.
Some lecturers were truly passionate and supportive, while others weren’t as engaging. The academic environment had its ups and downs. Strikes, limited facilities, and delays were part of the reality. But all of that taught me patience, adaptability, and how to make the best out of tough situations.
If you’re considering UNICAL, especially Genetics and Biotechnology, be ready to push yourself. The system won’t hand you everything, but if you stay focused, you’ll leave with more than just a degree — you’ll gain resilience and perspective.
View moreWell, university of Calabar for me was a rollercoaster, it had it’s ups and downs. Some days were frustrating while some days were fun. The lecturers there I had no problem with , surprisingly they were all so nice and easy to talk to. There in school I met two of my very close friends which I’m thankful for.
View moreThis university is dilapidated and would not be in business in a functional society. A lot does not work. The lecture environments are not conducive, there is a lot of corruption and injustice going on and it debilitates your learning experience. I do not recommend chosing this school.
