Students at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) encounter several challenges that affect their academic and personal growth. Irregular academic calendars caused by strikes and administrative delays often disrupt studies and extend graduation periods. Poor infrastructure, including inadequate lecture halls, hostels, and laboratory facilities, also limits effective learning. Many students face financial hardship due to high living costs and limited scholarship opportunities. In addition, poor internet access and unstable electricity hinder research and online learning. Mental health issues such as stress and anxiety are common, largely due to academic pressure and insufficient counseling services. Furthermore, security concerns within and around the campus affect students’ safety. Addressing these issues through improved infrastructure, stable academic systems, financial support, and enhanced welfare services is essential for improving students’ academic performance and overall university experience.
