What Stands Out:
1. Classes:
My school offers diverse academic programs across faculties like Agriculture, Engineering, Law, Management Sciences, and Health Sciences, among others. Student reviews praise well-structured curricula that integrate real-world examples, making complex topics like biochemistry or livestock production relatable. For example, the agriculture program covers topics like soil science and animal production, which are vital for Nigeria’s economy. The university also provides online learning platforms for accessing course materials, assignments, and grades, which is a plus for tech-savvy students.
2. Professors:
COOU boasts qualified faculty, with many holding PhDs and being described as hardworking and dedicated. For instance, the 2023 promotion of 18 academic staff to professor rank, including experts in fields like Accountancy, Physics, and Science Education, highlights a strong academic team. Students appreciate lecturers who are knowledgeable, approachable, and use practical examples to bridge theory and practice. The leadership of Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Kate Azuka Omenugha, a renowned Mass Communication scholar, has been noted for driving academic and digital transformation initiatives.
3. Campus Life:
COOU’s three campuses offer a vibrant student life with opportunities for extracurricular activities, sports, and social events. Facilities like libraries, sports fields, and student centers support a well-rounded experience. The Igbariam campus, Students describe the environment as student-friendly with a relatively low cost of living, which is a significant advantage in Nigeria’s economic context. The university’s digital services, like a dedicated email system and digital library access (e.g., Alexandria, Elsevier), enhance campus life for tech-oriented students.

The university is not doing well as supposed. My dislike for the institution is close to top-notch, where they’re only keen on building their financial structure, instead of improving their educational system.
I wouldn’t recommend the institution to anyone.
