Ekiti State University (EKSU) is acclaimed as one of the best state universities in Nigeria. It has a strong reputation, especially for certain programs, take instance my course Psychology. In fact, EKSU was one of the first universities in Nigeria to offer a Bachelor of Science degree in this field.

However, while the university boasts impressive facilities, I’ve found that they aren’t always utilized effectively, particularly in practical applications. For instance, the psychology lab is equipped with various practical tools, but students often miss out on hands-on experience. Instead of engaging with the equipment, we mostly rely on theoretical notes and research from others, which can be frustrating.

When it comes to advising prospective students, my recommendation is mixed. For some courses, EKSU offers excellent opportunities and a robust education. It’s crucial to do your research and inquire about specific programs before making a decision. That said, the university’s reputation can enhance the value of your degree, which is certainly a bonus.
