My time at Al Akhawayn University was an experience that truly shaped who I am today. It’s where I grew, learned, and built my identity. AUI is special not just because it’s the only university in Morocco with a liberal arts system, but because it provides a well-rounded education that goes beyond just academics.
The university’s setting is one of my favorite parts. Surrounded by nature, the peaceful environment made it easy to feel calm and focused. Even though we were a small community, it was a close-knit one. Everyone looked out for each other, and the professors were incredible, both highly knowledgeable and genuinely invested in helping us succeed.
That said, not everything was perfect. The bureaucracy, especially in departments like housing, registration, and the business office, could be frustratingly slow and inefficient. I think it’s because the university is growing but hasn’t scaled its administrative systems to keep up. It’s an area they could definitely improve.
Despite the occasional frustration, I wouldn’t trade my time at AUI for anything. It’s a place that gave me so much more than an education. It gave me confidence, lifelong friendships, and a clearer sense of who I want to be.
