Founded in 1907, ESSEC Business School is an international higher education institution in Cergy- Pontoise and La Défense (Paris area), Singapore and Morocco. It is one of the leading business schools worldwide and has obtained the triple accreditation of AACS (=), EQUIS and AMBA. ESSEC is also one of the most selective schools in France and thus considered one of the “Grandes écoles”. ESSEC is mostly known for its outstanding Master’s programme – their Master of Science in Management was ranked 3rd by the “Financial Times” in 2014, 2015 and 2016. The global MBA was ranked by QS as one of the best European programmes with the regard to their graduate employability rate.
ESSEC currently has 8 departments:
-Accounting and Management Control,
-Information Systems, Decision Sciences and Statistics,
-Public & Private Policy
ESSEC also has partnerships with top universities all over the world for exchange and double degree programmes. Students at ESSEC get to experience business-related learning that prepares them for employment in an practical and multicultural environment.
Admission to the Bachelor degrees is open to students who have a High Schol diploma and are younger than 25. Potential students should have in interest in languages as they have the option of studying completely in English, French or both.
ESSEC Business School is a French school located in the Parisian area (Cergy), far from the city center but accessed by several means of transport (buses, trains…). It is known for being one of the high-ranked business schools in Europe and for offering several programs.
The one I chose is the Bachelor in Business Administration (BBA) which is obtained after four years of studying : the two first years are based on a general curriculum followed by all the students, then the two last years combine professional experiences and courses chosen by the student itself depending on the subject he or she wants to specialize in. All of this goes with exchanges and internships to do during these academic years. The courses are diverse and different. The are many subjects such as Finance, Marketing, Accounting and Entrepreneurship, but also some subjects that are not directly related to business, just like history or languages. The school organizes often some business seminars and workshops.
Concerning the extra-academic life, Cergy is an area full of students. There are several universities and engineering schools around, which makes a dynamic and fun place to live as a student. The student organizations in charge of other students’ social lives always prepare enjoyable events and unforgettable parties at cheap prices. ESSEC Business School has also this special feature to count a large number of international students among its community. The school has a pioneer spirit that goes together with a special open-mindedness and respect of others.
Despite the inconveniences that can reflect the school (such as the location which is not really in the centre of Paris), it is still an experience that marked the majority – to not say all – of its students and alumni. I will for sure recommend it for others because it represents, in my opinion, the fundamentals of business studies and of students’ daily life.
Thanks to ESSEC, I was able to travel a lot, whether for internships or university exchanges. The experiences abroad are for me very important. They are both rewarding and allow to meet people from different cultures.View more
Great platform for employment in France mainly and French speaking countries. Great network with all big French companies. Great placement and job offers. Great student life and atmosphere. Campus not ideally situated but would highly recommendView more
As always, ESSEC is ranked as one of the best Msc. in Management worldwide by various rankings like the Financial Times one. This is due to the network offered by this school as well as the quality education it provides. ESSEC is well renowned in France and worldwide and it facilitates the process to have a job after graduating. However, the diversity of classes is a bit small and I wish I had classes on more “trending” subjects. But, overall, great school.View more
As a French speaking student coming from abroad, my integration at ESSEC went well. In fact, it’s difficult to fail your integration since the whole first semester is dedicated to it, with the seminars, the integration week, and all the parties brought to you by the student council. On top of that, a whole residence has been established near the campus to welcome all the first years, and I made a lot of new friends there. The negative impacts of this period is that some student can’t manage to work and party at the same time, so they fail their first semester. And secondly, that when the integration ends, the fact that there is two different tracks (French and English) can create a gap between the students of both tracks. Anyway, it has been a great time and I enjoyed it a lot. Fortunately, I managed to complete my first year and I now completely integrated in the ESSEC student life.View more
ESSEC is a highly diversified place with a pioneer spirit. Student life here is awesome with lots of events. The thing worth to emphasise is its close link with companies with chair programs which is led by a major sponsor and provide students with real-life projects and the possibility to do an apprenticeship. During all these preparing courses and programs, the graduates become really competitive on the market.View more
I applied for an advanced master’s degree in IT management at ESSEC business school and absolutely don’t regret it!
The teachers are more than helpful and will always try to give the best advice to develop our career which is what I was looking for after getting my engineering degree last year.
I had the opportunity to work at the same time as my master is a part-time master with this rhythm:
– 3 weeks at work
– 1 week at school
It’s, in my opinion, a wise choice to follow such a program after a masters degree to specialize in a specific domain.View more
