It’s a great place to study because they offer alot of courses, and they’ve been ranked as one of the top universities in Kenya and East Africa.
I pursued Bachelor of Commerce, specializing in Marketing at the School of Business (2013-2016).
In my opinion, the Marketing lecturers were friendly, knowledgeable and helpful compared to lecturers dealing with other departments of study.
The school of business – Lower Kabete Campus – is on the outskirts of the central business district. I found the suburban location conducive for learning since it’s quiet and surrounded by nature. The layout of the campus was also easy to navigate for example the lecture halls, hostels, administration block, entertainment centers, etc.
Cons: I found the marketing courses to be basic and not relevant to the world we’re living in, that is, digital marketing (which was what I hoped to learn).
Security in the hostels was inadequate. I had 2 security issues that were not properly addressed during my stay there.
Do I recommend the University of Nairobi? Yes – depending on what you want to study.
