The quality of teaching at UoN varies. Some lecturers are very passionate and dedicated. They are invested in helping us understand concepts and our course.
One unique thing I picked is how my HR lecturer madam Margaret went out of her way to help us revive the HR Students’ Association which had collapsed in the past years. This really motivates and pushes us to go beyond ourselves and build our networks in the HR industry.
However at the same time, some lecturers rely heavily on outdated notes and have minimal classroom engagement . Student participation heavily depends on the lecturer therefore sometimes students are demotivated and lose concentration/focus due to monotonous teaching styles.
From my experience I believe students would greatly appreciate a shift from heavy lecture sessions to sessions integrated with visual presentations, gamified learning and real life experiences.Relatable and engaging content will motivate learners more .
My academic journey at UoN has molded me beyond coursework. It has taught me how to get out of my comfort zone, adapt to different scenarios and push forward even with little support. I am able to take intiative and seek knowledge outside the class and my lecturers .
For Students who are ready to take ownership/accountability of their academics,UoN would be a strong foundation for that . I would recommend it to anyone ready to grow resilience , self motivation and take up space.
Well the University of Nairobi is quite nice but too overhyped. What really stood out for me during my academic experience there is the networking experience. They have amazing networking programs that could shape your career path and they match you up with amazing persons and alumni that guide you in your career choices. However, the university definitely need a touch up in infrastructure.

The University of Nairobi is generally considered a reputable institution in Kenya, recognized for its strong research culture, diverse range of programs, and status as the oldest and largest university in the country.
