The UoN is an institution that one should not pass up an opportunity to attend. I like the fact that it was designed for learning. You can tell from the lecture room designs and the overall attitude of staff. Being close to the city centre is also a big plus for those who want to have a work-school life. However, I am a bit disappointed in its investment in science courses, the equipment never seems to be enough, but the technicians do their very best with what is there. I would recommend it, especially to those pursuing their first degree.

My Experience at the University of Nairobi

My experience at the University of Nairobi was a mix of positives and challenges. Academically, the university offers a strong foundation, and I had the privilege of learning from some exceptional professors who were knowledgeable and supportive. The diverse campus life stood out, with numerous clubs and activities that helped me grow personally and professionally. Research opportunities also allowed me to gain practical exposure in my field.
However, there were significant challenges. Administrative processes, such as registration and accessing transcripts, were often slow and frustrating. Some facilities, like lecture halls and labs, felt outdated and overcrowded, which occasionally hindered the learning experience. Communication from the administration was also inconsistent, making it difficult to stay informed about schedules and requirements. Overall, I would recommend the University of Nairobi to self-driven students who can navigate these challenges and take full advantage of the opportunities it offers.

    Navigating Campus Life

My general experience in the University of Nairobi was great. I like that the lecturers were hands on through each program. I also liked the set hours between lectures,we had enough time for changeovers and movements from one lecture hall to another. What I dislikes was that the university did not give a much relevance to other curricular activities. They did not put enough funding on sports, games and music among other talent nurturing activities

    diversity of the students.

One of the things I love most about my university is its infrastructure. The campus is equipped with modern facilities that truly enhance the learning experience. The classrooms are spacious and equipped with up-to-date technology, including smart boards and high-speed internet, which make lectures interactive and engaging. The library is another highlight, offering an extensive range of resources, both physical and digital, along with quiet spaces perfect for studying.

I also enjoy the extracurricular opportunities available here. The university has great sports facilities, a well-maintained gym, and a variety of student clubs and organizations that cater to different interests. This gives students a chance to relax, socialize, and develop new skills outside of academics.

On the downside, I find that administrative processes can sometimes be frustratingly slow. Whether it’s dealing with course registration or getting quick responses from the administration on academic or personal issues, the bureaucracy can feel like a roadblock.

    Education

I really like the mode of conveying of education the only drawback would be result administration and quality of marking dies to large population of students and understaffed staff.this is equally important since the quality of grades is greatly affected since lecturers also get exhausted dut to marking monotony.

Decent but there's plenty of room for improvement.

It is an adequate university. I like that the lecturers had a somewhat good knowledge of what they were teaching. The practical aspect of my programme was lacking though. I’d recommend working on making technical subjects more practical.

    Faculty of Engineering

The institution offers a variety of engineering courses that are all accredited by the engineering board of Kenya.
It has a dedicated staff who are qualified.
As an engineering student, I was able to access the workshops for our practical classes.
It also has a modern library for personal reading and research.
Hostels for accommodation are available within the university, and there are also some outside the institution that is privately owned by investors.
The institution also admits international students since it has met international standards.
Sports and other social activities are also available at the UON.
    I would recommend the institution
