My years at Kenyatta University studying urban planning were transformative and rewarding. The program offered a solid foundation in spatial planning, sustainable development, and regulatory compliance, which I found incredibly valuable. The coursework was challenging but well-structured, with practical assignments that helped me understand real-world applications—like coordinating projects and solving problems efficiently, skills I later applied in managing construction projects and even overseeing operations at a dental clinic.The lecturers were knowledgeable and supportive, often encouraging us to think critically about urban challenges in Kenya, such as cultural preservation and sustainable growth. I particularly appreciated the hands-on projects, which gave me the confidence to handle complex tasks under pressure. One of my proudest moments was completing a residential construction project on time and within budget during my final year, which showcased my ability to apply what I learned at KU effectively.The campus environment was vibrant, with a diverse student body that made collaboration and networking enjoyable. Facilities like the library and planning studios were resourceful, though I wish there had been more opportunities for field trips to see urban planning in action. Overall, KU equipped me with the skills and passion to contribute meaningfully to urban development, and I’m excited to apply this knowledge in roles like the assistant physical planner position I’m currently pursuing.

It is an institution that does not only offer academic excellence but also talent and life skills . It has diverse group of people from different countries and communities where we interact and learn from each other. One thing I dislike about the university is that it does not have adequate accommodation for all students

You get to experience the best university life right here t the main campus, starting with a robust student life full of fun and sporting activities. The orientation program for new students is there to help new entrants adjust and know all about the university and it is usually done within the first week of admission. You also should get ready to utilize all the amenities available including the social halls, student centres, library and lots of parks with plenty of vegetation to cool off. Be guaranteed that the lecturers will guide you all the way and enable you to achieve the best in the program you are undertaking.
