Good Foundation, Weak Execution

My experience at Astana Medical University was a mix of challenges and growth. The curriculum is demanding, and while it covers a wide range of foundational medical knowledge, there is often a gap between theory and practical application. Some professors are truly passionate and knowledgeable, but the teaching methods can feel outdated, with limited interaction and a heavy emphasis on rote memorization.

Administrative processes can be frustrating — unclear communication, sudden schedule changes, and a lack of transparency are not uncommon. The university could benefit from modernization in both its digital systems and its approach to student support. However, these difficulties also forced me to become self-reliant, proactive, and creative in how I approach my education — qualities I now see as an asset.

Overall, it’s not a perfect environment, but if you’re driven and independent, it can still serve as a launchpad. It taught me to adapt, to persist, and to take my education into my own hands.
