Living in Kazakhstan while studying at Astana IT University has been a unique and enriching experience. Astana, the capital, is a city of contrasts, blending modern architecture with cultural heritage. The university’s location in the EXPO Business Center places it at the heart of this vibrant city, surrounded by iconic landmarks like the Nur Alem Pavilion. The city’s infrastructure is well-developed, with plenty of malls, cafes, and cultural venues like the Astana Opera, which I’ve enjoyed exploring. The university gives a comfortable and supportive environment. Student housing is modern, fostering a sense of community. Seasonal events and clubs have helped me make friends and feel connected. Winters are harsh but magical, while summers are warm and perfect for outdoor activities. Challenges include the high cost of living and the city’s remote location. Additionally, the university’s focus on IT limits opportunities for humanities students. Despite this, my time here has been a blend of academic growth and cultural immersion, making it a memorable chapter in my life.

My experience at Astana IT University has been positive overall. The campus is modern and well-equipped, providing a comfortable environment for studying. The university places a strong emphasis on extracurricular activities, which has allowed me to develop skills outside the classroom. I’ve participated in various clubs and events, which have been both fun and enriching. The faculty is supportive, and the administrative staff is generally helpful. One area for improvement is the variety of non-technical courses offered, as the focus is heavily on IT-related fields. In my Web Development course, we collaborated with local businesses to create functional websites—a hands-on experience that felt impactful beyond the classroom. The startup incubator fosters entrepreneurship among students by providing resources to develop innovative ideas into viable projects. Despite being a young institution, AITU has managed to attract knowledgeable faculty who are committed to student success. While some courses still need refinement due to its growing nature, AITU’s focus on modern challenges like AI Ethics ensures graduates are prepared for dynamic career paths

AITU stands out for its focus on global citizenship and cultural exchange. I had the chance to attend lectures by visiting professors from top universities worldwide, which broadened my academic horizons significantly. Events like international food festivals and Model UN conferences foster collaboration among students from over 50 countries. The library is another highlight—it offers breathtaking views of Nur-Sultan’s skyline while serving as an excellent study space. However, nightlife in Astana is limited, which may not appeal to everyone. Nonetheless, AITU provides unparalleled opportunities for personal growth through its diverse community.
