Hello, first I would like to say I am not sure why some students said it was a great university. I guess it is very subjective. I am an American student who did my bachelors in the united states and the university was 1000 times better than cafoscari. There are absolutely no pros to the school.
The cons:
-disorganized, they don’t even know when the graduation date is even if you are international and your family may have to travel to come to the event
-professors in the language department are extremely boring and have no real preparation for the real world
-NOONE SPEAKS ENGLISH, even though they pride themselves on being an international school. When you call certain offices they don’t speak in English ( luckily I speak Italian but some friends of mine had many difficulties)
-grading system is based on how the professor feels at that moment
-orientation is USELESS, they only give info about Venice but not about useful things such as how exams work, who to talk to if you need help. Etc
-the online platform is old and outdated ( moodle is completely disorganized)
-the call centre has random hours of the day
-THERE ARE NO BREAKS! Christmas break you have to study for the exams because they are directly after Christmas, and in the summertime, if you need to take an exam you will have to study all throughout summer
-THERE IS NO ONE TO TALK TO FOR ADVICE. This is a huge issue because as an international student everything is new. But instead of talking to a professional who works at the school, they give you a buddy who is another student and doesn’t know anything.
-all emails that are sent to students are sent only in Italian( again if you pride yourself on being international you will send an email in both English and Italian for Erasmus or full time students)
-half of the international students in my program left because they hated the school
Please please do not go to this university. It is very sad for me to write this review because honestly it was my dream to study in italy. But cafoscari has been an absolute nightmare and this review is not personal but its a review on how most of the international students in my program felt.
View moreI think Ca’ Foscari is a really good university where you can find a great variety of courses and really good professors. Venice is a very good environment where you can develop your career perspectives. I would recommend it.
View moreStudying at Ca’ Foscari was usually great. There definitely were some professors who might’ve been better, but in the end I was satisfied. That’s when the problems started. If you want to keep studying after your Bachelor’s, but aren’t interested neither in classical literature nor in economy, well… there’s nothing for you. No translation courses, no modern/contemporary literature courses… you’re all alone. That’s sad, and it should honestly be considered before applying.
