Studying in Rome

I study intercultural and linguistic mediation at Sapienza University and I am enjoying quite a lot my studies here. At the moment I am on Erasmus in Sweden and I am taking some courses at Stockholm University. My study program in Italy is organised quite well, as you can choose two or more languages to study, as well as exams from other departments.

The classes are very interesting since the professors are very prepared, however, I would say that maybe the lectures are often too theoretical. At Stockholm University during the courses, we often do assignments and group projects that improve our practical skills, while at my home university we don’t do them often.

Student life can be hard in Rome because it is quite difficult to find cheap accommodation but also because the means of transportation do not work very well. However, it can be funny to be a student in Rome since you can find many pubs and restaurants around the university which have good prices and are very funny.

I would recommend this university because it is one of the most prestigious in Europe, but one must know that the method of study is a bit different from that of other European universities, as it is much more focused on theory rather than practice(for example if you study humanities).

The university has many foreign students but at least in my department, I have noticed that most of the courses are held in Italian, therefore it would be difficult to study here if you do not speak the language. After finishing my bachelor’s degree in Italy, I am willing to apply to study Media and Communication in Sweden as I am enjoying a lot my stay at Stockholm University.
