I loved studying at Luiss University. The academic standards are high, but the professors and examinations are fair. I’ve had more than enough time between classes to have fun with colleagues and travel around the town. The university is very supportive, and I got all the help I needed as an international student.

View moreDuring the Master’s courses I had the chance to meet various professors and professionals from different fields, often not related to law but to economics and administration. They were all competent – some more than the others – and gave previous insights on how the industry works and how to deal with everyday struggles you might come across in your personal work experience: this helped me to develop hard and soft skills I didn’t have and I weren’t taught to me during university.
That being said, there are three major things I didn’t like: organization, communication and the traineeships programs.
They lacked almost everything when it came to communicating with the students and we often had to ask ourselves about things they were supposed to communicate beforehand.
The organization of the courses wasn’t very good either, with lessons that were occasionally postponed or meant to be on campus that took place online with no communication whatsoever – it happened four times.
The traineeship programs didn’t meet my expectations either because the stage offers I received were not related to what I was studying and they didn’t give me the chance to further develop the skills I was hoping to.
Overall, my experience was good but the courses need to be organized better and they need to improve both the communication and traineeships program.
View moreThe university contained the pandemic in a very good manner, quickly implementing the online classes and reorganizing the entire web platform in a matter of days. It only shows good management and stability. My programme is a brand new course only launched a few years ago, and while some courses are still figuring the structure, it’s clear to me that it was very well thought out initially as a lot of courses from different areas were included, making it easier to choose a future career path after having touched on many topics. Nevertheless, there were some problems with the final thesis as, for example, no one explained nor guided the students on how to do it or how to manage it. All the professors spoke very good English throughout the years but some of them had very strong accents and were quite difficult to understand.
Overall, the university listens a lot to the opinion of its students and implements changes quite quickly. It has very good career opportunities and even possesses its own recruiting portal which helps a lot. Luiss is a very internationally developed university with many exchange programs.
The program that I did was for three years: Management and Computer Science. An innovative and avant-garde course, which allows all those who carry it out a high level of preparation and an adequate network of connections. The university is located on a beautiful campus and all the classrooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technologies. The teachers do not speak English very well but this is compensated by their high knowledge of the subjects they teach. It opens many doors for you to study in such a stimulating environment.
View moreLuiss has been the most unhealthy studying environment I have ever frequented.
Every curiosity from students iss killed either by (many) incompetent professors who cannot address any question going beyond what is thought during class, or by toxic and in-depth extra study on the topics fronted in our subjects.
Assistance to students is inexistent for studying related matters and only present for bureaucratic duties.
Students live under their own “bubble” only capable of spending at least 60€ every time they go out for drinks or dinner or clubbing (which are the only activities they know about).
On campus services are just a few and very expensive (canteen, bike sharing, vending machines), moreover the campuses (depending on which course you’ll study in different parts of Rome) are all extremely small and very difficult to reach by either car (no parking) or public transportation.
GO STUDY ELSEWHERE, it is not worth it.
The undergraduate degree in Economics and Management at Luiss University is a challenging, but yet stimulating and rewarding course. Lessons are delivered both in presence and online by competent and engaging professors. I would recommend the course to other students primarily because of its academic excellence.
The campus is relatively new, full of green spaces and of classrooms where students can study and network.
The university offers multiple services: canteen at lunch and at dinner, classrooms open 24 hours a day where students can go to study even during weekends, a cafeteria, several classrooms with computers and other electronic devices, a career service, countless opportunities to study abroad, car-sharing service and tutoring centre.
There is only one aspect that I think could be improved: I would use part of the campus to create a parking area for students, because since the campus is located in a very busy area of the city, often students waste a lot of time looking for car parking in the area without any success and therefore arrive late to class.
My Erasmus experience at LUISS was amazing. I had the chance to choose specific subjects that I really enjoyed and where I learned a lot. Despite that, I can say that there was a subject about Religion and its power in dialogue in international conflicts that were not well structured nor related to the title of the subject.
Other than that, we had a super nice and warm welcome, the campus is amazing and I had great fun. I wish I could go back in time…
I personally loved my three years at LUISS university. The overall experience is something I would recommend to anyone.
The main campus in Viale Romania is very pretty, with lots of green areas and nice spots to spend your extra time (such as the LOFT, the Language Cafè, a small wooded area with table tennis tables and other amenities, Radio Luiss, and so on). There are drinking fountains at every corner, even two dispensing sparkling water, charging stations (there are also ports everywhere), printers, MacBooks available for students, a tiny movie theater, 3D printers and so much more.
There are only a few complaints I feel I should mention. There isn’t enough room for students to study (not even in empty classrooms), nor at the cafeteria and neither at the bar (in Italy a bar is where you get coffee). Also, parking in Parioli (the neighborhood the main campus is located in) is ridiculous… if you have a car take into account at least 0.30h to find a parking spot, even if you drive a Smart. The university doesn’t care about this at all, offering only very low discounts for garages nearby (still super expensive, about €170 per month), and even taking away all parking spots reserved to motorbikes within the campus (for no apparent reason, as there’s plenty of space).
I cannot say much about the cafeteria since I never ate there, as no one recommended it (I was told that prices are high, quantity is not there, and quality is average), and also because there are plenty of alternatives in proximity to the campus, or you can even get food delivered.
The programme is super well designed. The teachers have a lot of background and experience. The Classes are super practical. We did not miss anything. I wish the program was longer cause I really enjoyed it.
