A Management degree builds a strong foundation in a wide variety of fields including business, finance, economics and marketing. It develops students’ understanding of business practices, structures, business theory, business strategy and research as well as global economies and financial markets. Doing a Management Degree also allows students to gain skills that enable them to work with financial and numerical data effectively.
Management degrees cover different managerial roles, such as Human Resource (HR) management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. They can be specialized into one of the areas mentioned above or follow a more general approach that covers most of these areas.
The range of management degrees is huge and includes Business Management, Management, Marketing Management, etc. They are predominantly offered in the business departments/business schools/management schools of different universities.
One of the main benefits of this degree is that Management is a broad discipline, which keeps students’ career options open.
Management degrees could have a very practical focus, which is an opportunity for students to gain experience in the process of completing their degree before having started their professional careers. Management courses usually offer work placements and practical modules, which include business simulations and business creation in a simulated environment. Acquiring practical experience through these opportunities could make students stand out from the crowd in the job market once they graduate. Research-oriented Management degrees also exist for those who prefer the theoretical aspects of such a degree. Most courses, however, have established a good balance between theory and practice in order to meet the needs of all students.
Management degrees also prepare students to serve the managerial role across a wide range of areas, including HR management, hospitality management, innovation management, operations management, etc. Students can specialize in one particular area or focus on gaining knowledge across all of these areas thanks to the high availability of different management courses.
Additionally, there is a high demand for management professionals in the contemporary business world. Therefore, taking a management course is an opportunity for students to kick-start their careers and occupy a higher position in the organizational hierarchy.
Management courses usually begin by introducing students to different areas covered by the managerial role, such as organizational management, business environment, statistics, accounting and finance, business growth, etc. After the first year, institutions allow students to explore the management discipline into more depth by delivering specialized modules and offering optional modules, which enable students to choose subjects that interest them the most and are most relevant to their career aspirations.
Management degrees take 3 years to complete in the UK. However, their duration could extend to 4 years if students choose to spend a year in industry between their second and third year, which is a popular option among the student community. Setting placement opportunities apart, the duration of a Management degree depends on three main factors – country, mode of study (part-time or full-time) and degree level. Below are listed the approximate durations of Management degrees in the most popular countries for Higher Education in Europe:
The Pharmaceutical Biotechnology master’s program at the University of Bologna is a rigorous and inspiring course that offers deep insights into the development of biopharmaceuticals, vaccines, and advanced therapeutic strategies. The curriculum is thoughtfully designed, balancing theoretical knowledge with hands-on lab experience and exposure to cutting-edge research. Professors are highly qualified and supportive, often integrating real industry perspectives into lectures. The international environment and interdisciplinary approach foster a collaborative and engaging learning atmosphere.
On the downside, navigating Bologna’s housing market can be challenging, with limited affordable options close to campus. Traffic can also be inconvenient at times, especially for those commuting. Despite these practical concerns, the academic and professional opportunities provided by the program more than make up for them. For anyone passionate about biotech innovation and contributing to the future of medicine, this program is a strong and rewarding choice.
View moreI am currently at UNIBO and I am about to finish my first year – and I absolutely love it! This place is full of amazing opportunities for students: Erasmus and study abroad programs, scholarships, financial support, even asylum policy assistance.
The best part? You get to learn from top-notch professors in beautiful historic buildings that make you feel like you’re studying in a museum.
Honestly, I feel so lucky to receive my education here. UNIBO is not only one of the best universities in Italy – many would say it is THE best!
View moreThe university of Bologna is a pilar in the Italian educational system and, as such, it has high standards of education, although being a public institution.
Talking about my personal experience, I am currently studying in an international Bachelor degree in Business Administration with only 50 positions available. This makes the entry requirements quite challenging and the environment within the course quite competitive, but still worth it. As students, we have the chance to make long term friendships and get to know pretty well everybody who is in the course. Additionally, we have the possibility of having a human interaction with the professors themselves, who are important figures both inside and outside the university.
I am grateful for the opportunity of this high-quality education and I would suggest everybody to challenge yourself and try to entry in a course even if the spots are limited!
I enrolled in Law, economics and corporate governance. Best course includes deep knowledge and information. It will definitely help me to improve my knowledge.
The Law, Economics and Corporate Governance program at the University of Bologna offers a unique interdisciplinary approach that blends legal studies with economic theory and corporate governance principles. Designed for students aiming to understand the complex interactions between law, business, and finance, the course provides solid academic training with a focus on both European and international perspectives. The curriculum includes core subjects such as corporate law, competition law, economic analysis of law, financial regulation, and business ethics. Professors are experienced and often involved in research and policy-making, providing students with insights that go beyond textbooks.
The course is taught in English, making it accessible to international students and creating a diverse, multicultural environment. It emphasizes critical thinking, policy analysis, and legal reasoning, equipping students for careers in law firms, international organizations, regulatory bodies, and the corporate world. One of the program’s strengths is its emphasis on real-world applications, including case studies, internships, and guest lectures from professionals in the field. However, the workload can be intense, and a strong background in both legal and economic concepts is recommended. Overall, it’s a well-rounded, forward-looking program ideal for those seeking a career at the intersection of law, economics, and governance.
View moreI love this university and my course in general. My programme is Masters in International Management. It’s a wholesome curriculum but the only drawback i feel is the elective we have to choose in the final year. The only 2 paths they put is Strategy or Marketing.
They instead could have also given Finance and Supply chain.
But the course is quite dynamic overall!
The University of Bologna provides a supportive and enriching atmosphere, despite being highly demanding academically. All the individuals I’ve encountered exhibit great kindness and generosity. It is evident that they genuinely appreciate you as a student and are prepared to customize your college journey to suit your needs. Also, the University of Bologna offers a wide range of degree programs and promotes inclusivity within its campus community.
View moreAs an international postgraduate student, my experience with the university was quite a happy and a healthy one, as it had the environment for me to grow personally as well as professionally. The staff was very keen on helping the students and there were lot of funding opportunities available to assist students financially. In particular, the international students desk was very helpful. The societies and clubs in the university is also very active, and it could really elevate the whole university experience.
View moreI really liked most of the classes I attended, but I feel like a couple of courses (a few of them ) don’t have any practical application for what I will be doing in the future. What I really disliked was the location, which is quite isolated from the rest of the city.
View moreI really appreciate the teaching methods of the professors at this university. They, in addition to being professors, have many professional experiences and this transmits to us, students. In addition, for each exam, group work is planned and this reflects a lot of the working situation in which we Management students can find ourselves in the future. Finally, the few classes have made us students socialize a lot and this is a very nice thing.
