I was admitted as a Ph.D. student in Communication Science (Faculty of Social Science) at the University of Tehran in 2019 and graduated in 2023. Studying at the top university in Iran, with the highest scientific ranking, was beneficial for me. Our department offers a very friendly space for students engaged in communication and media research. Professors are equally warm and welcoming to students of all levels.
As the biggest and oldest university in Iran, the University of Tehran boasts a large campus with many facilities for students. The university also supports students with seamless health insurance, and dormitories without waiting lists, etc. Unlike other universities I’ve experienced in Iran, the university president and dean could often be seen on campus interacting with students. Everyone is made to feel welcome, no matter their cultural, ethnic, or religious identity.
If I had to critique anything, the quality of food offered to university students could have been better, I think. Also, the paperwork and process of graduation was very time-consuming (although I heard that with applied automation, this process has gotten better). Altogether, I think education at the University of Tehran is a worthy opportunity for students and I hope to read more reviews of my alma mater in due time.
