Studying Political Science and Religion at the University of Ghana was a transformative experience that gave me a deeper understanding of both governance systems and the complex role of religion in society. The interdisciplinary nature of my program encouraged critical thinking and broadened my worldview, especially within the African and global context.
Lecturers in both departments were passionate, well-versed in their fields, and often encouraged open dialogue during class sessions. I particularly appreciated how courses in political theory, African politics, religious ethics, and interfaith dialogue complemented each other and offered practical insights into current societal issues.
The academic structure allowed for flexibility and intellectual exploration, and the campus provided a vibrant environment for learning and leadership development. I benefited from student forums, guest lectures, and departmental seminars that challenged me to think critically and engage in policy and religious discourse.
One area for improvement would be streamlining administrative processes, especially with course registration and accessing transcripts. Also, some lecture halls and facilities could be upgraded to match the evolving academic needs of students.
Nonetheless, I highly recommend the University of Ghana for anyone interested in Political Science, Religion, or any field that values critical inquiry, cultural diversity, and academic excellence. It provided a solid foundation for both my intellectual growth and professional journey.
View moreI was really ecstatic to be a resident student at University of Ghana. At 16 years, I was enrolled at the university and did not know how to manage this newly found independence. There were lots of parties and clubs happening at the university. However, I had to teach myself control and time management in order to avoid being swept up in all the excitement.
Also, I was very particular about the type of friends I kept. I made sure I surrounded myself with friends who were focused and responsible. A key highlight of my university experience was the group studies I organized with my friends. This played a key role in my academic excellence.
The university provides quality education with knowledgeable professors and good facilities. The campus environment is welcoming, and there are many opportunities for growth. I would recommend it to others

View moreWhat I like about the programs is that they enhance your knowledge in the field of politics and set you up for your political career. One thing I don’t like about the course is that some lectures seem not to have the cordial relationship with the students learning that course.
View moreI always acknowledge the fact that the University of Ghana remains the best school in Ghana and West Africa. The university has been well structured with a reasonable amount of accommodation facilities to support local and international students to facilitate academic activities. My department has instructors who are easy to be approached and their readiness to help students overcome the hurdles in their quest for knowledge is amazing. The mission of my school to attain the status of a world-class research institution has led to a focus on training students to have research as part of their academic endeavours. Inasmuch as my school is doing all its best to maintain the top-flight university in Ghana, it lacks certain structure which sometimes affects students psychologically.

View moreInfrastructure and environment is good and conducive for learning. Lecture halls and halls of residence are spacious and well ventilated. I must say also that, the student to lecturer ration was worrying in some classes as the class size was too huge for one lecturer to handle.
