Benefits of a Philosophy Degree

The essential benefit gained from having a Philosophy degree is the mindset you acquire. Graduates learn how to constructively tackle major problems and come up with the best solutions.

Studies have shown that Philosophy is one of the most sought-after majors in Humanities in the market place. Why? The answer lies in the creative mindset and set of transferable skills that can be applied in various areas of expertise, not only Philosophy. What employers appreciate about Philosophy graduates is their problem-solving and thinking skills as well as their organised way of laying out information.

    Insightful and Transformative Philosophy Program

he Philosophy program at the University of Ghana has been an incredibly enriching and transformative experience for me. The diverse curriculum covers essential philosophical traditions, from African philosophy to Western metaphysics, and contemporary issues like ethics and political philosophy. This breadth of study has allowed me to gain a well-rounded understanding of the field.

One of the standout aspects of the program is the faculty. The professors are not only experts in their respective areas but also approachable and dedicated to their students’ intellectual growth. They encourage critical thinking and are always open to discussions, which has significantly enhanced my learning experience.

Classroom discussions are a vital part of the program, fostering an environment where students can freely express their ideas and engage in meaningful debates. This has helped me develop my analytical skills and appreciate different perspectives.

Moreover, the university provides excellent research opportunities. With access to a well-stocked library and various academic resources, I have been able to delve deeper into topics of interest and conduct substantial research projects. This aspect of the program has been particularly beneficial for my academic and professional development.

The University of Ghana also offers a supportive and inclusive environment. There are numerous student organizations and extracurricular activities that contribute to a well-rounded university experience. These opportunities have allowed me to connect with peers, build lasting relationships, and develop a sense of community.

Overall, I would highly recommend the Philosophy program at the University of Ghana to anyone interested in exploring deep and complex ideas. It has been a highly rewarding experience that has equipped me with critical thinking skills and a profound understanding of philosophical concepts.

Comparison of hostel fees and tuition fees

Well I don’t think my opinion really counts. I mean this school is amazing…has its perks. One thing I really love about this university is the size of it…..the university is more like a big town situated at Legon with 30,000 population. It has amazing infrastructure…. There’s so doubt about that…however the hostel fees being paid are way over board/ expensive and the lectures are just something else. The programs given when admitted into the university is just blasphemous…
But would I recommend this school to anyone else?……. On some occasions yes I would ….on other occasions I wouldn’t

    Courses and Lectures

I love the way courses were structured to extensively exhaust the necessary knowledge base surrounding them. I also admire how lecturers go the extra length to impart knowledge and make sure there is a high level of understanding before proceeding all in the course allocated time. I think that is due to the delivery methods and I was grateful for the great care they showed in handling students

University of Ghana, if not the best, is one of the best in Ghana. The program I studied there instilled in me discipline, punctuality, honesty and all that needs to make up a serious individual. If They have very good courses and the lecturer- student relationship is commendable. If I’m asked to get another degree in Ghana, I would certainly choose to get it from UG. My only problem with this institution is their luck of accommodation for students. Measures should be taken to curb this headache
