The University exposed me to industry players as well as programme related experts for guidance. I also had the opportunity to network with well established people and research. I will recommend to individuals

View moreMy time at the University of Ghana was a unique, wholesome experience. From the educational aspect to networking and meeting new people and learning new things outside the academic curriculum, it was definitely a worthwhile experience.
View moreUniversity of Ghana has been one of the most sought after colleges in Africa but also it is the one-stop prestigious learning center for international students. I had the opportunity to study medical geography in UG from 2013 to 2017, and I loved it! The department lecturers are hardworking and examination questions are structured as open-ended so that students can think to answer them. I love that other students in the department are friendly and willing to get into study groups to meet and study together. There is the Geography Department Student Association that routinely organizes field trips to make our classroom learning experience very practical. Geography at IU has really paid off because I got admission to do postgraduate studies in the United States.
There is one thing that I think UG falls short in. And that has to do with high living costs. Canteens and small grocery shops sell at expensive prices. Considering myself an average-income student at UG, I had a difficult time trying to get nutritious food around my residential hall. However, there was a way around this – the Madina traditional market is closer to the UG campus, about 10 minutes drive. Madina market sells very cheap groceries and food and this made my life easier.
Overall, I think UG deserves its prestigious position in Africa, ranking among the top 15 universities. The lecturers are great and the campus is safe for students.
View moreI love the fact that my program gave me a general knowledge which cut across marketing, communication, and information management which involves the creation, usage, preservation and manipulation. I also like the fact that I was equipped with knowledge in IT courses like programming of which I was able to polish my language skills in c, and later lead me into having an interest in adding HTML, Javascript and PHP. The benefits are numerous. The downside is the fact that the school of information studies sometimes lack the availability of proper internet infrastructure to enhance research and other matters.
View moreMy stay at the University of Ghana was not just about attaining higher education but it helped improve certain aspects of my life and equipped me with a lot of skills.
Individual experiences may vary, but from my point of view, this is the best university in Ghana.
With my belief in development being a gradual process, I trust the university would be rubbing shoulders with some of the best universities in the world in a few years to come.
I really enjoyed my stay on campus. Some of the lecturers were very good to the students. They taught extensively by utilising all teaching methods especially when Covid happened, they resorted more to online teaching materials and made sure students understood what they taught. Lecturers engaged students in research works as well, although I believe more of this can be done. I made new friends that I will keep for life.
View moreGreat course structure and content. Well experienced tutors and lecturers. Promising career prospects after the program. Very diversified student portfolio offering a great deal of varied experiences.
View moreI loved how broad it was and how it had a positive impact on my society. I didn’t like the rate of overpopulation which made accommodations scarce for students. The student life was super nice, with exposure to diversified cultures and good hospitality. Yes, I would recommend this school to everyone including international students.
