View moreThe contents are very theoretical. If that is your interest, you will be happy here. The professors are experienced in their respective fields of study and want to help you on your journey through the world of academia.
View moreIt’s a very interesting and in-depth programme. Has some good professors and a lot of international students. I sadly haven’t had much of a university life experience yet since everything is online at the moment.
View moreThe University of Hamburg is a good university with many opportunities for self-organization. Except for the first semester, courses can be planned very individually depending on interests and wishes. However, this also involves planning the times so that no courses take place at the same time. This can also get a little stressful.
The Corona Pandemic has changed everyday life at the university. Before the pandemic, there were many canteens with good food at reasonable prices. When a digital university operation was necessary, the changeover was made quickly and studying was still possible.
All in all, I was satisfied at the University of Hamburg.
View moreThe Uni Hamburg has many experienced lecturers and it has very good opportunities for students such as dormitories (if you can wait around 1 year 😅), dining halls and cafeterias. They also give free semester tickets for all types of public transports.
View moreFirst of all, there is a lot of choice of subjects. That means more flexibility for the students. Students can get various support from specialist advice. The university attaches great importance to communicating new research topics. The crucial point is that the university tries to adjust the students in terms of time and schedule and not the other way around. This gives many the chance to study.
View moreBeing a student at UHH comes with a lot of advantages: you get offered a free transportation card that you can use through the city & a free culture card that guarantees you a lot of discount in theater, museums and operas. Overall, the uni is very considerate of its students economic well being and offer a lot of cheap options for food. As a student, you are also offered day care for your child and legal advice if needed.
The student body is also very politically engaged and does it best so that all students can feel welcome and safe and campus.
Concerning the modules available, I felt like there were a lot of great options offered. Especially, a lot of modules are offered in English, and the uni is very open to innovative teaching and new ways to learn. Having myself taken one of those innovative seminars, I can assure that they offer very stimulating and refreshing learning material.
The only thing perhaps that UHH could improve is student life. There are no societies or clubs within the society, so it can get very lonely if one does not make the effort to socialize. However, the student body does offer a lot of activities, especially in the beginning of each semester.
View moreYes I’d recommend the university because it organizes a lot of activities besides the actual classes. Professors take you to extra classes when you get good grades. The tutors at classes are hard working and help you a lot, even when you ask them afterwards.
