Global perspective. One of Germany’s most international campuses—working on projects with classmates from 50 countries sharpened my cross-cultural collaboration.
Applied learning. Professors pushed us to pair theory with real industry briefs; I left every semester with portfolio-ready code and data analyses, not just grades.
Research access. Early entry into the paluno software-engineering lab let me co-author a paper and learn agile methods the hard, rewarding way.
Resource-rich city. Ruhr region events (Start-up Nights, Fraunhofer hackathons) made networking and internships easy without leaving campus for Berlin or Munich.

View moreExcellent education and environment. University covers 2 big cities, offers a lot of opportunities to the students. One can happily roam around in a free time and explore a lot. University is very good in research and also offers a lot of options for the course we study.
View moreInnopreneurship, a mixture of innovation and entrepreneurship at UDE is not like most other study programmes. Each year has a maximum of 25 students. The classes are very practical and are often taught by external experts who have a lot of experience in their fields.
Overall, I would recommend this study programme to everyone that is open-minded, likes to work with other people from lots of other disciplines and likes to turn ideas into action.
The education quality is really good, it is more theoretical and less practical. The academic staff are well prepared and very friendly. Not only the academic stuff but other employees are friendly as well. Other than that, the disadvantages are, you need to wait for your exam results for months and not all of the activities/events are well organised. The transportation is free with the semester ticket which is included in the semester fee, the location is easy to access. Cafeterias are well sorted. But sometimes it is not easy to find activities to do on free times, at least there are university sports available.
