First of all: Kiel University is not a beautiful University. So don’t expect old and nice buildings but a mostly working, grey environment for studying. If you Don’t mind that you’re good here. You will have to work a lot on the chemistry part, because the first years are filled with Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry, in lectures and practical courses with big protocols to write. That’s heavy but you will be happy about that in further biochemistry studies. The biochemistry courses are placed at the end and are very good because most professors will tell about what they love and that makes learning easier. But they mostly are not very good in the didactic part and how to involve the students in the lectures and seminars. They try but it’s not working very good. The courses you can choose from for biochemistry and biology are very interesting for a broad spectrum of interests.

The university itself has a lot of really good sports facilities and sports for students. The food in the canteen is okay, the AStA is eager in supporting anti-racism and anti-sexism issues, the library is good, the labs are mostly well equipped.
