    Great staff and infrastructure

The campus is impressive and the staff is highly qualified. I would rate the program highly.
International students, however, had few opportunities to work as student assistants. The program targeted international (non-german speakers) but the lack of German skills represented a major difficulty in the pursuit of further opportunities within the institution.

    Amazing professor and study

I like professors all of them are the best and have great experience also the university infrastructure is good. overall the course is also overall well structured and enough for a master’s student in physics. In the end, I also like the mensa where I get most of vegan.

    Modern, progressive, international

Studying law at Free University is – contrary to what you would expect as a prospective law student – a very liberating experience.
That’s because the Free University offers students a lot of perspectives and options to become politically engaged. Compared to other law schools, teachers, as well as students, are aware of law being a very conservative field of studies. The FU offers a lot of projects regarding gender diversity, gender neutral language in law, racism etc. This is why I have always felt very welcome here. It’s also a very international University, giving students the opportunity to go abroad to basically any country in the world and get a scholarship if you need it.
Law is still a very hard major and it can get unbelievably frustrating from time to time so be aware. The Free University has high standards and asks a lot from their students. You are going to have to spend a lot of time at the library.
With the right people even that is enjoyable though and there are a lot of those at Free University. It is easy to connect through events like barbeques or pub crawls organized by the Law Department.
What really sucks about Berlin is the lack of accommodation. You will have to be prepared for that. The campus is pretty far from the centre as well but it makes up for it by being very big and green.
In conclusion, I would recommend studying Law at Free University if you enjoy a liberal and international environment and you can handle the pressure that comes with studying law.
I have met some lovely people here and made friendships that I am sure will last very long.
Free University is the place to be for Law students who want to make the world a better place.

Master's in Chemistry at the FU Berlin

The Free University of Berlin is, by all means, a very good choice for people looking to further their education. Their approval processes and requirements are very realistic and broad enough to offer opportunities to many students with very different backgrounds. Personally, I have been admitted to the Master in chemistry course and overall I am very satisfied and grateful I made this choice. Apart from fees being very reasonable, the course itself provides students with high-quality lectures, opportunities to explore many different academic and industry avenues for further prospects. Overall, I believe that through my education at the FU I have built a big arsenal of skills, on my subject, but also other skills, that will enable me to shape my future career in a confident and determined fashion.

English Studies - okay program, but not much more

I attended the English Studies: Literature, Language, Culture program at Freie, so my review is mostly related to the program rather than the whole university.
One of the positives of the program is that while it is a full-time program, compared to my other experiences, the workload is not too high and allows for time to work.
The curriculum of the program did not seem very well thought out and there were not as many options for classes as I wish there were.
Professors were a hit or miss. There were some who were enthusiastic to teach and provide feedback, while others didn’t really bother to even put proper class descriptions online for students to get an idea of what the class would be about.
While the program was fully in English, just like with most public institutions, any communication with the administration was in German. For a uni that wants to bring in more international students, this seems like a big issue that is being ignored.
Overall, I still think that it is an okay program, especially since it’s “free”, but I would not actively recommend it.

    Free University Berlin

Free University Berlin is a big and beautiful campus with lots of international students. There are associations for international students, but there is also a special international office for foreign students within the host university.
The university takes part in the so called Excellence Initiative. This state programme allocates special funds to the very best of German universities and thus enables the university to found graduate schools and transdisciplinary research clusters, which provide very good opportunities for those who are pursuing an academic career.
The Free University of Berlin also offers a variety of other activities and sports, which are subsidised by the university thus making more expensive sports available to students.
Students who would like to study at this university should keep in mind that it is situated in Dahlem Dorf. This district in the southwest of the city is far away from the city centre. Therefore I recommend checking beforehand how long it will take from your future home to get to university. Students should also check where exactly on campus their department is situated.
University does not cost that much. In case you cannot afford to pay for it, you’ll be given a loan which you could pay back once you find a job. Every student must pay a fee (around 240 Euro per semester). This allows you to travel with the local transport without restriction for six months.
Berlin is perfect for students and young people and it is really easy to meet other people willing to get in touch. The university is good, has average lessons and professors are great.
I would strongly recommend an experience in this university and city because of the open mindedness of the local people and because of the very high level of the professors providing students with a great amount of knowledge as well as the skills to raise critical judgement.
The people are generally internationally oriented and tend to regard foreigners as an added value of the city. This means you really feel part of the city.
During my study experience abroad, I attended courses where there were only 5% international students, but the local students were still very nice and helpful with us, as well as the professors.
I would say that having the opportunity to study at the Freie University Berlin was the best thing that happened in my life. Living and studying in Berlin changed me in a good way and it has opened my mind. I would say that this city and this university are the best choices I could have made.

    Research in FUB

It seems to me that it is an excellent university with a very good academic degree and the teachers focused on teaching their students as much as possible, excellent also clean buildings and in the best of the states, all very technological and modern.

    Fairly disorganized

Our university is located in the South Western part of Berlin, has excellent faculties of Political Science and Humanities. But as with most universities, bureaucracy isn’t very efficient and also frequent construction can lead to students being a bit disoriented. Also the buildings are quite old and ugly.

    Massive scholarship factory

I enjoyed my time here, though I was sometimes bothered by the overwhelming anonymity- a feeling that many of my colleagues have expressed over the course of our studies. I would recommend the FU Berlin to anyone who is better able and willing to study independently and keep track of every bit of their due work themselves, rather than work in smaller groups and take lots of tutorship. This school might just be too massive for that.
