Université Savoie Mont Blanc - USMB (reviews)

I have studied at USMB for my LEA ( Langues Étrangères Appliquées) degree and it has been a pleasure! Honestly, there was a good variety of courses on the two sides of this degree which are languages ( for me English and Spanish ) with a good amount of business-related classes as well! It requires a good amount of time but it’s worth it!

On a very charming campus, this license is multidisciplinary and the teachers are attentive to the needs and problems of the students. The lack of schooling staff and their workload, however, creates many organizational problems. Also, the campus is inaccessible to people with reduced mobility, the premises are increasingly dilapidated. Student life is calm and repetitive but the city is ideal, calm and rich in cultural events.

I was admitted in this university in research Master degree. It’s the worst experience in my study, because there is a lot of unprofessional professors, especially in the selection process of doctoral student (for example: student admitted for PhD program in Management, and her previous study in other specialization “Geography”, and when I told the director of the IAE “Mareva Sabatier” and the doctoral school of University de Savoie that my previous study is better than my colleague especially because my bachelor and master in the field of management and my colleague in “Geography”, they don’t response to me.
Another reason is the bad professor who I work with him my Master thesis “Jean Francois Gajewski”.
He promised me that the research Master it’s like first year in doctoral program and when I did my master thesis he encouraged and demand me to search a scholarship to pursue my doctoral study with him, and he gave me for this reason a letter of recommendation to get a scholarship. After I obtained the scholarship and I finished my Master thesis he refused to continue with me without any academic and professional reason.
For all of these reasons I don’t recommend this university (especially IAE , Annecy-le-vieux), and I don’t recommend to work with the professor Jean-François Gajewski (currently he worked in IAE Lyon school of management), because he lies on student and gives false promises.

The university is not very large, so the teacher-student relationship remains quite personal. In addition the area is beautiful, the people friendly and despite its small size, in Chambéry there is everything you need! Really to consider if you do not want to go to a big city.

This university has an exceptional natural setting for sports and science of any kind. Research is more than present and gives a good overview of what it represents.
This university is divided into 3 poles. This allows smaller units training and a better cohesion of Fillières on limited geographic area.

The Université Savoie Mont Blanc has the great advantage of being an institution of moderate size, maintaining high levels of training. I study at the Le Bourget campus. Both the teaching staff and the non-teaching staff are very attentive, always ready to help and listen to the needs of the students. Being relatively small groups allows a more personal student-teacher relationship, and in my opinion, facilitates learning. One of the great advantages is the landscape. The university is situated one kilometer from Lake Bourget, in the pre-Alps. If you have a difficult day at the university a walk to the lake allows you to relax. The sports service of the university is very varied, and more than accessible (17 euros for the right to use the facilities + 12 euros per sport per semester). The food at the university restaurant is acceptable, especially considering the price (3.25 euros per starter, main course and dessert). With everything in mind, it is a highly recommended option.
