The New School (reviews)

At The New School, your education is truly what you make of it. No major is tailored toward one particular kind of person. Most programs have specialized concentrations that you can develop overtime based on where your interests manifest. This was the case for me with my major in Culture and Media. Although TNS falls short on the career services side of things, my ability to work toward becoming a journalist was highly attainable and for that I’m grateful.

My time at The New School has been an absolute delight! The city’s quaint, small-town charm has provided the perfect setting for my academic adventure. The university’s campus and facilities are exceptional, and the staff are truly outstanding. I wholeheartedly encourage getting involved in the various clubs and societies, they’ve led me to incredible friendships and a truly fulfilling university experience.

I was a virtual student during my time at The New School. Contacting financial aid was always a pain, you would be on hold for hours on end and still not get answers once you were helped by someone. They messed up my financial aid every single semester, and would suggest I visit their office to clear things up, but when I told them I was not living in NYC they were unhelpful. On another note, the professors were absolutely amazing and I learned a lot in my program. I would go back here again for sure, but definitely tread lightly with financial aid.

My program is fine arts at Parsons school of design. The school is great but the fine arts program specifically has very little space. I feel like the students that are in my program aren’t the most engaged people and unfortunately, most of the teachers are unmotivating.
I enjoy the way the semsters are organized and the first year is a foundation year is very helpful if you’re not sure what you want to study yet.
In conclusion, the school is great but you need to depend on internal motivation if you want to get the best experience. Always search up the teachers when you’re choosing classes and Don’t expect the students to be as interesting as you imagine ://
