Established by Emperor Haile Selassie I—an influential advocate for African independence and a cofounder of the African Union—the university was originally named Haile Selassie University and retained this title for many years until the regime’s downfall. Today, it remains a leading center for higher education, academic excellence, scientific explorations, cultural festival hub.

Asdis Ababa university is a suitable place for learning. It was nice for me to be there for my experience. Good freinds, proffessors and all the teams were interesting. I equiped my self both academicaly and socialy that benefited me alot for my future life.

Addis Ababa University is the first autonomous university in Ethiopia. It is filled with many scholars who contributed a lot for the education environment. I really the like lecturing system of this university. It is student centered and practically focused. It relates to real life problems enabling us to build strong mentality. The other thing I like of this university is, its strong participation in extracurricular activity. It is not only focused on the education but also on activities which are relevant to the major we are pursuing.

Addis Ababa University is a cornerstone of higher education in Ethiopia, and my time there was alright. As a student in the business and sociology department, I appreciated the emphasis on understanding societal issues from both a local and global perspective. The main campus, Sidist Kilo, has a rich history and a vibrant student atmosphere. The Ethnological Museum on campus was a personal favorite, providing a unique cultural touch to our studies. Professors are highly knowledgeable, though the large class sizes sometimes made individual attention difficult. The student clubs and cultural events, like traditional dance nights, offered great ways to unwind and connect with peers. While the facilities could use an upgrade, the library system and access to academic journals were helpful. Addis Ababa itself is a bustling city that offers a mix of culture, history, and modernity.

Addis Ababa University is a vibrant and diverse institution that provides a rigorous academic environment. The professors are knowledgeable and approachable, always willing to help students succeed. The campus is beautiful and the facilities are well-maintained. However, I wish there were more extracurricular activities and a stronger sense of community among students. my experience at AAU has been positive and I have grown both academically and personally during my time here

At Addis Ababa University, I’m surrounded by a diverse array of classmates, each bringing unique perspectives to discussions. The teachers are knowledgeable and approachable, making learning engaging. While some courses could use more practical applications, overall, the curriculum is enriching. Staying away from home has its challenges, but the campus community feels like a second family. Though there are few international students, their presence adds cultural richness to our academic environment.
