Yes, the University of Ostrava has and offers dormitory accommodation to its students. Degree students have priority over Czech students, so you are guaranteed to get a spot. We also have a partner dormitory, so you can make sure that you will get accommodation. Our team will also help you during the procedure.
The Czech Republic has a very affordable cost of living (420 – 670 EUR/month).
Of course. Among other services (assistance during the whole admission procedure), our staff will help you with the VISA procedure as well. We have a high success rate of students applying for VISA.
You can legally work and there is no hour or age limit (however, it is necessary to fulfil your studies properly) and many of our students do have a part-time job. Students work in different positions. Students from English Philology usually teach English in schools, students of Mathematics have various jobs in IT etc.
I’m in my second year of my master’s degree in English for translation and I have nothing to complain about. My classmates, professors, and the teaching itself are all great, everyone is nice and helpful. I’ll miss it here a lot.
View moreI am very satisfied with my experience at the University of Ostrava. The programme I study is well structured and academically demanding, which helps students develop both critical thinking and practical skills. One of the biggest strengths of the university is the quality of its academic staff. Many professors are highly knowledgeable in their fields, approachable, and willing to support students in their academic development.
I also appreciate that the programme offers a good balance between theoretical knowledge and its practical application. The courses are meaningful and relevant, and they encourage students to engage with current issues and research.
Overall, I feel that I am studying in a strong programme that prepares students well for their future careers or further academic work. I would definitely recommend the University of Ostrava to prospective students.
View moreI would especially like to highlight the friendly, welcoming, and inspiring environment at the university, as well as the willingness of the professors to support and help students. Overall, the university is very attentive to students’ comfort and well-being.
At the same time, there are many student events, which give you great opportunities to meet people from different fields of study. The University of Ostrava also creates a wide range of opportunities for its students – whether through various academic and international programs, or through activities here in Ostrava. For example, students can get involved in different clubs, associations, and organizations, which really helps them connect with others and gain valuable experiences
View moreAs a second year student at the faculty of arts I can say that I am proud of my school, though scattered around the city I find the study environment and availability of different mobilities a huge plus, I myself couldn’t attend any of them because of my status as a client of a children’s home, which makes it harder for me do so, though I would love to.
Aeolus 🫶🏼
I really enjoy studying English, I would highlight the literature classes with Dr. Beneš the most, and the British history classes with Dr. Kopecký were also very interesting (unfortunately, he no longer teaches, he now represents us as the rector 💙).
View moreI love to study here because I can travel a lot and see different towns. The university is well organized. Ostrava is a nice city for students and has a lot of benefits for me. I is defintely not my last visit.
View moreI would recommend it to anyone. The staff is very supportive and the subjects very interesting. It’s a mix of courses, self study and excursions.
We can also go to many out of school activities with other students.
I think that the highlight of the university is the personal approach, the comfortable athmosphere and how much they support and value students. It also wants to attract students in unique ways – which is why they offer some unique offers – for example unique mobility programmes that are not present at other Czech universities. I enjoyed my time at the University of Ostrava.
View moreHonestly, had a great time during my 3 years of study there.
We were a very tight-knit group in our class, which contributed a lot to the enjoyment of myuniversity life – I had friends to study with, to hang out with after classes and to consult academic things and subjects with.
As per the university – it had a lot of social events which I joined often, and there were so many opportunities to study abroad with a scholarship that it sounded too good!
As per professors – some of them were really enthusiastic and laid back, i think fondly on some of them and their classes. You could see that most of them were interested in the success of the students.
I like the individual approach at university, it’s very personal, sometimes relationships are formed that last a lifetime. I would also definitely mention the helpfulness of the teachers, especially when it comes to requirements and schedules. At the faculty of education, there is definitely the possibility of internships and their recognition, if you are already teaching or working in the field.
