As an international student, studying at Silesian University has been a transformative and enriching experience. The university offers a calm, focused academic atmosphere and is especially welcoming to students from abroad. The professors are knowledgeable and often bring real-world insights into lectures, which enhances the learning experience.
The campus in Karviná is compact and accessible, with a peaceful environment that’s great for focused study. What stands out most is the personalized attention you can receive from staff and faculty — unlike larger institutions, you’re not just a number here.
There’s strong support for Erasmus and international mobility, and I’ve found opportunities to engage in practical learning, part-time jobs, and student activities that complement my studies. The cost of living in the region is affordable, and the university offers various support services for students navigating academics and life in the Czech Republic.
Of course, some areas — like extracurricular clubs or student events — could be more dynamic, but overall, Silesian University is an excellent choice if you want an affordable, quality education in Europe with good work-life balance and practical exposure.
View moreI have very good opinion about my university as it has provided me with great real world knowledge and experience through business incubator internship programs and also Erasmus programs which were really helpful to gain knowledge. Also buddy program where they provided a senior student to help the new comers to get used to the change when coming from a different country. Also, good hospitality, well qualified professors, well coordinated examination, classes, etc… I would definitely recommend this university to someone new.
